I thought I’d share several images I’ve made in the last few weeks and have been working on to share.

Last Friday a friend came up for a Doctor’s appointment and spent the night, but after her appointment, we went out exploring my area looking for some Nevada Wild Mustangs; we had Lady Luck with us b/c we found a small band!  Doing a little research we discovered that this  Black/Blue Stallion is called Zorro.

I’m looking forward to getting to know the Wild Mustangs of Nevada and this band.

To close out this week’s post I’ll share a sunset from last week. This was made while I was on my patio.

I had a lovely Christmas Holiday, and I hope those of you that celebrate it did too.

During the quiet times here at home I looked back through this years images, and looked at the stats of images I’ve posted here, and/or on flickr.  I had some good trips, hung out with amazing people, and had the opportunity to see many beautiful places, and things.  I feel truly blessed!

Sunset over Santa Clara County Hills

Another little tree alone on a hill.  This is an image I made a couple of weeks ago.  It was a lovely evening: warm, with a cool breeze, and the color glowed in the sky for hours; until well after dark. A rare thing around here.

Sunset Santa Clara Valley

I had just a few minutes to get up to my tree to capture the end of the day. I just made it! Not too much color, but the light was pretty, and the clouds moving in bringing rain tonight added to the drama.

My tree is growing up! It’s getting fuller and our hills and mountains are green again.
In Santa Clara County we’re 190% above our average for rain fall, but we still have a long way to go before we’re out of the drought. We need 6 more storms like the one we just had to get out of it the Meteorologists say. I hope we get that! Either way I’m already looking forward to Spring flowers. 🙂

…the State Fair!

There are a lot more Spinning rides than when I was a kid, but the energy, sounds of the Arcade barkers trying to entice you to try your hand at their game to “Win the big prize!”, the clicking,  and clanging of gears and tracks, the lights flashing, and whizzing by, the screams of delight and terror echoing from the tops of rides by children young and old, the sweet smell of Cotton Candy, and the rich buttery smell of  fresh popped popcorn wafting through the air all were the same.

Ferris WheelMy goal on this evening was to have a lot fun slowing down my shutter speed to show the spinning of the many spinning rides.

Spinning RideThe Carousel was pretty all lit up so I took two images one to stop action showing its detail, and another with a slow shutter speed.

Spinning CarouselAll the images in this post were taken at the California State Fair July 2012. I missed last year, and hope to get to this year’s State Fair which starts in just about a month. With a little luck #1 Grandson will be with me and experience his first Fair.

Tunnel View Cafe

At the Tunnel View CafeThis is the “cool” version of Sunset that I took while at Tunnel View in Yosemite a couple of weeks ago. I used a Singh-Ray LB ColorCombo Filter to enhance the colors and reflecting light.

The haze in the image is moisture from the low clouds, and smoke from camp fires down in the valley. I hoped to get Alpine Glow on both Cathedral Rocks and El Capitan, but it didn’t happen while I had my Singh-Ray filter on. You just never know what it’s going to be like. It’s never the same twice.
