Thursday Doors: Lord John Russell Pub

Whist in London over the Holidays I passed this pub on the way to the British Museum and had to stop to get a photo of the lovely Blue Door. I love the hanging sphere plants and that shade of blue. Lord John Russell

I did a quick search to see how long the pub has been there and found it’s been there a LONG TIME! In 1856 a John Russell was in the postal directory at this address.

Here’s the link to the London pub wiki that shares the pub’s history.

  1. That is so cool! I love that shade of blue, too. Recently I read “Mudlark”, by a woman who combs along the shore of the Thames for artifacts that are exposed by the water. It was a fascinating read, giving glimpses into the history of London.

    1. Your guess is as good as mine on the freshness of the paint. It does look clean and elegant doesn’t it? I can’t tell you how happy I was to have passed just this pub on my way to the British Museum! The Spirits knew I wanted to see great doors on this trip to London. 😀 I must have been living good in their opinion because I passed this door and pub.

  2. You were in the UK? What a surprise! Hope you had a great time:) Attractive doors:)
You many have an error in your link to Thurs. Doors – I clicked on it twice, and it went to my own blog. Then I clicked on your name next to your photo, and voila, I am here!
