The bridge has new lights! It’s a temporary art piece by Artist Leo Villareal. I went up to the city with a group of photographers to photograph it. It is pretty. I’m planning to photograph it again while the lights are still up.

For more information about the artist, and lights:

I took this a couple of weeks ago on a wonderfully clear night in the city. I lucked out with the light on top of the Transamerica Pyramid Building being on. It’s only lit during Holidays and by special requests. It was lit in honor of Chinese New Year on the 23rd and 24th.

My Intervelometer was acting up and I didn’t have my glasses to see what the heck was wrong with it. I knew it was a setting, but I couldn’t read it to figure it out so I used a higher ISO to get the proper exposure. Once home with my reading glasses on I discovered it was as I thought a setting reversed.

San Francisco Moonset

I set out Sunday morning to photograph the Moonset over San Francisco,  the first location I wanted to go I wasn’t too comfortable going alone, so Diva Dog and I moved to plan B where we watched the Moonset. I can’t complain too much about plan B’s location the Moon was gorgeous, big, and the colors in the sky were lovely!

I spent the rest of the day with No 1 Grandson and family. I hope you all had a beautiful Sunday, and have a great week.

This is from my archives. I’ve wanted to shoot this scene with the full moon for about 2 yrs. Unfortunately when the moon has been full it hasn’t quite lined up or the weather didn’t cooperate. So when I had a waxing  gibbous 3/4 moon I went up to the city to get this shot as “practice”.
Since I’m spending a good deal of time at home these days I’ve turned my mind to cleaning out my closets, freecycling lots of clothes, cleaning out my 2012 files and reference materials…I shredded and recycled about 20 pounds of paper, and culling my photo files. While doing that I have discovered photos that are worth working on…like this one.

This is a two image composite. I took the foreground photo then switched lenses to my 70-300mm and shot the moon. Both images were taken the same night within minutes of each other. I blended them in Photoshop CS6. Someday I hope to get this shot with a bit of atmosphere and the full moon lined up just right.

In honor of the Golden Gate Bridge’s 75th Birthday

Today is the Golden Gate Bridge’s  75th birthday. There’s going to be a party with fireworks shot right from the bridge tonight. The crowd is going to be BIG! I decided to stay away from the city, and not fight the traffic in and out of the city.

So instead of posting a historic photo or two shot tonight of the Golden Gate Bridge with Fireworks I’ve decided to honor the birthday by sharing a few photographs of the GGB that I’ve taken the last few years.

It’s a beautiful bridge to shoot day or night, and one I’ll never tire of photographing.  I hope to photograph it many more times before its 100th birthday!

My friend Anne asked me if I was free to do some scouting and hiking with her yesterday, and lucky for me I was. We spent the day in San Francisco, and this was our first stop.
Actually we were hoping for more fog, but we got a late start. We met for breakfast…it was worth it!

This is my first published Panorama…I think. Todd have I published one before? I know I’ve played with them but don’t think I’ve shared them.
This is 3 frames stitched together showing Fort Baker‘s Horseshoe Cove, Angel Island, Downtown San Francisco, and Golden Gate Bridge with Twin Peaks behind it.
There is some vignetting in the corners due to my Grad…I was shooting into the sun.
I hope to get better at them as I do more. Be kind with your critiques please. “)
