I had a lovely Christmas Holiday, and I hope those of you that celebrate it did too.

During the quiet times here at home I looked back through this years images, and looked at the stats of images I’ve posted here, and/or on flickr.  I had some good trips, hung out with amazing people, and had the opportunity to see many beautiful places, and things.  I feel truly blessed!

P52 46/52 Chrysanthemum

The few Chrysanthemums I have in my yard are in bloom! The yellow ones looked so lovely in the late afternoon light that I grabbed my macro lens, and camera before the light faded.

The plants are super old, so the blossoms are much smaller than in past years. I think I need to add new plants or rip these out and start anew? Anyone know which would be best?

Speaking of plants.  We’re having the front landscaping done finally! It should be done by Tuesday. I’ll post images when done. I’m so excited!

P52 35/52 What’s my Name?

This plant started growing in my yard next to my Dahlia this Spring. I have no idea what it is, and assume the wind,  a bee, or a bird brought the seed which took root. It has broad leafy branches and these tiny little flowers grow on stalks.

UPDATE: Thank you so much Andy of  Christian Grandfather, Honoring Grandfather’s Blog for Identifying this plant as Pokeweed.

It’s not native to my area/region. I’m going to have yank it since it’s poisonous, and I have a toddler, and dog who will find its berries too tempting I fear.

Impatiens – watercolor

Inspired by a watercolor by Jodi Jensen that I own, and fellow blogger   http://createarteveryday.com/  I pulled out my Watercolor paints yesterday evening to paint some Impatiens.

Here’s V1

Not happy with the top of the pots, and the floor, anchoring ground I flipped the card over and began anew-

I am happy that I was able to get the tile floor to look like a floor, and the pots came out better, but one pot is still a bit wonky. Perspective in drawing and painting isn’t coming easily to me.

I didn’t like the big green bush on the right so, I wet my wash brush and went over the entire painting muting the flowers, bush, and pots, and after it dried I started again.

Impatiens III Watercolor

The pot on the right is still wonky in shape, but I like the softer, more muted edges, and the greenery in the background I find more pleasing.  There will be a V4 on another day.

I found the an image online (Yahoo Images) of the Watercolor by Jodi Jensen that I own and have hanging in my family room which was my image source of inspiration.  My watercolor is quite different.  🙂 I hope to be this good one day!
