UnfoldingI went on quick walk about in the neighborhood this morning with the Lensbaby Composer Pro and Macro converters, but didn’t stay out long because the wind picked up making it really hard to shoot the flowers.

This Bud didn’t take much post development. In ACR I used the lens correction filter, camera color settings filter, and moved it to CS6 to Nik Suite’s Viveza 2 where I applied some structure to the center of the rose and inside pedal then added a darken vignette around the edge of the image using Nik’s Color Efex Pro 4.  That’s it! Obtaining the dreamy look is just about effortless with this lens. I love that!

I also bought the Soft Focus Optic that I hope to get to play with today.

Northern Flicker-Male

Northern Flicker-MaleI’m so excited-this is the best Male-Northern Flickr image I’ve made to date!  It is also the closest I’ve ever been to a Northern Flicker.
My friend Rainey and I had been shooting wildflowers up in the mountains when we were descending we spotted him pecking at the road. He flew up to this perch and stayed just long enough to capture two frames. Both were a bit over exposed, and not as sharp as I would have liked as I was shooting on the fly from the passenger side of the car through the window. Thankfully Adobe Camera Raw, and a bit of sharpening in Photoshop saved the image.

I am not happy about cutting off his tail though. So, while I’m happy to have made this image there is a better one still to be made. The chase continues. 🙂

Sunset Los Gatos, California

Sunset Los Gatos, CAIt was a gorgeous sunny day yesterday. The temperature was in the low 80’s. Late in the afternoon I noticed clouds forming and thought the sunset might be a colorful one, so I packed up a light-weight kit and headed over to Vasona Lake.

I had another view framed, but the  clouds and color didn’t drift that way, so I turned around and found the color there.

Travelerette on the Wildflower Trail

Myself and He-Man headed north-east to Sierra National Forest looking for Spring Wildflowers. We found a few mountain sides covered in California Poppies, and several other Wildflowers in bloom.

We saw Blue Dicks, Lupin two types Miniature, and a larger purple one Mountain? There were buttercups, and Goldfields, Chinese Houses, a tiny white flower like Baby’s Breath, but not. I need to ID that one, and lots of grass! The recent rains really greened things up nicely.

Travelerette and WildflowersWe got to the Trail-head in the late morning with the sun shining, but the Poppies decided to sleep late on this Saturday morning.

We hiked about 2 miles round trip on this trail, then headed to Yosemite to check out the waterfalls, and do a bit of hiking there. Images to follow.

This is an image I made while at the Monterey Bay Aquarium last Saturday. I think he looks lovely in this royal blue watery background. I am going to look for these patterns, and colors to add to my wardrobe this summer.
