Whatever Weds. Spring Flow

While out hiking I’m enjoying the sound of rushing water as rushes down the canyons and mountains. The rivers, creeks, and streams are all flowing fast and loud.

Here’s a little stream I crossed recently while on a hike.

We went to see our Grandsons, Baby Girl, and The Handsome Surveyor for the holiday week-end. It was wonderful seeing them and hanging out on the lake.  Baby Girl wakeboarded, He-Man and I spent a lot of time with our Littlest and #1 Grandson, and I learned how to drive a waverunner. That was fun! I can’t wait to do that again.  I’m working up my nerve to try the knee board. 😀

The sunset Saturday night was gorgeous on the lake. Here’s an iPhone photo I took looking north from the front deck of their houseboat.

I got an invitation to try out the new editor before they make the change permanent so I clicked over and started writing this post. I didn’t like the font that came up when I started typing the title and couldn’t figure out how to change it. Where’s the font choices?

Then I started poking around to see if I could still schedule the post for a future date…couldn’t find that either! Not a good start wordpress!  Then I started hunting for the way to go back to the classic editor and thankfully I found that and went right back here!  Geez!  Right now I don’t think the new editor and I are going to get along if I can’t find what I use the most from the get-go! Sigh! 😔

Well, I hope you all had a lovely holiday week-end and your week is going well!

#1 Grandson doesn’t think our patio/entry is Ultimate Spooky. He’s right, but I really like the scarecrow we assembled together. He named him Charles.

Happy Halloween!

…and here are a few of the Ghosts, and Ghoulies that I’ve seen from walks around the neighborhood this month.

Views from the Trail

I thought I’d share with you some recent images from the trail.  The clouds were gorgeous, and the deer were too, and I loved the Oaks that lined the trail a little bit more than usual on this morning hike.

I was on the way down here. The view is looking at the southern end of the San Francisco Bay Area. The white teeth like structure left of center near the water is Shoreline Amphitheater, and moving to the right are the hanger of Moffet Field looking small from up here.  The mountains in the distance is the Diablo Range.

Autumn was on display.  Even dying I thought the blossoms were pretty.

I think this is a Coyote Bush. It goes all Fuzzy this time of year.

and the wildlife… I saw a young Buck, a Doe, and some wild turkeys along with the usual suspects; squirrels, and birds.  This pretty doe was in the front yard of home when I was headed up hill along the road to the trail-head.

I made two short videos. One of the Buck, and the other of the wild Turkey’s.

Here’s the video to the Buck.  I dislike my voice in this video, but can’t figure out how to mute it so no one has the option to hear it. 🙂 I couldn’t upload the video directly from my computer, so had to put it up on YouTube.com for you to see.

I hope you all have a lovely week-end and your views where ever they are are wonderful.

Eastern Sierras with iPhone 7 Plus

Long overdue for a cell phone upgrade I ordered the iPhone 7 Plus after watching the promotion video, and several youtube reviews.  My ship date was way out Nov. 7-11th. Sigh. Oh boy, this phone is popular I thought.

To my delight I received an email saying my new iPhone 7 Plus was shipped I’d have it the following day!  I received it Thursday late afternoon, and began the process of updating my iTunes, backing up my iPhone 5’s data, images, etc., then followed the steps to get my new phone up and running.  It took a long time, and it wasn’t without a few glitches, but I was able to take it with me to the Eastern Sierras for the week-end to try it out while I was photographing Fall Colors with a group of photographers, and friends.

I was really excited to try out the dual lenses in the new iPhone.

Here are three images I made using it.

Mono (moh-noh) Lake South Tufa Area Daybreak.   Tufa is pronounced (too-fah).

On the top two images I used Adobe Camera Raw after uploading the images to my computer. I applied my standard settings:  I opened up the shadows, and tweaked the blacks, and highlights. Then I added a bit of contrast, vibrance, and cropped off bits that didn’t add anything to the image or to strengthen the composition. I added sharpening for the web and resized them for web viewing.

North Lake: This image is SOC = Straight out of the camera aside from resizing for the web, and cropping off a bit at the top. North Lake

+1 MORE: I packed lite, really I DID!

The camera won’t replace my DSLR, but I’m impressed with it and will probably start using my phone camera more than I have been.  I wonder if my FZ200 will be the camera that gets shelved for this camera though?

I have oodles of images I made over the week-end made with my trusty Df. I’ll be sharing those soon.
