This week I’ll share some photos I made of the ship we sailed to Alaska on. She’s the largest Royal Caribbean ship we’ve sailed on.
She was built in 2014 and sails under the flag of Bahamas. At the time of her delivery she was the third largest cruise in the world by gross tonnage (168,666 GT). She’s 1,141 feet long (347.7 meters) and 236ft 3inches tall, (72 meters). Her top speed is 22.0 knots and will hold 4,180 passengers (double occupancy), and a maximum of 4,905 passengers, with a crew of 1,500.
On sea days we felt the 4,900+ people on board especially on the days the pool deck was closed due to heavy winds, and rain.

The Bow of Quantum of the Seas

Aft of Quantum of the Seas showing off her Climbing Wall a bit.

This is Felicia the Big Magenta Polar Bear by artist Lawrence Argent. Titled ” From Afar”. She’s 30ft tall, is comprised of 1,340 stainless steel triangles, and weighs eight-tons.

That arm with pod on the end is the North Star Observation Pod. It gives you a 360 degree panoramic view of the ports, ocean, and surroundings. We didn’t try it. We meant to on Port Days but, were so busy with excursions we never got the chance to.

The Esplanade on Decks 4 and 5. Here you’ll find shopping, dining, entertainment, and socializing. We spent a lot of time on this deck.

She’s a beautiful ship that we enjoyed a lot. We came off her ready for another cruise.
Have a lovely week everyone!
more to come…

WOW … that’s quite the floating city! Looks very luxurious. I have never had the desire to go on a cruise … probably because of the other 4,000 people! 😁

It’s fun. We’re poking around looking for our next cruise.

I’m late catching up, Deborah. It looks like they take every opportunity to keep you interested. The ship itself is magnificent. I can see why you enjoyed the cruise.

Thanks for taking me aboard with you. I must admit, though, that cruise ships of that size are absolutely no-go for me. If so, I prefer much smaller ones, or, as we did in January/February, a “cruise ferry” like the MS Nordkapp of the Hurtigruten;

P.S.: I’m glad, though, that you enjoyed your trip.

Thanks for coming along, Pit! This is as big as we’d like to go size wise. I’ll have to look up the cruise line you line to. I’d like to do a River cruise which would be a much smaller ship.

I can definitely recommend Hurtigruten’s “Coastal Express” all the way from Bergen to Kirkenes and back. Unfortunately we barely saw any northern lights, but the cruise was still absolutely fantastic.
And as to smaller ships: I’d like to do coastal and/or river cruises with “American Cruise Lines”.

Cruising is certainly a whole different style of holidaying, but definitely a good way to go.

It really is. We like not having to think too much about anything while onboard, and we’re never bored with all the entertainment options, the gym, trivia, pools, spa, and this ship even had table tennis, foosball, and bumper cars!

Bumper cars!!! Wow…

That’s what we said. It’s not for me anymore, but the kids onboard loved them.

Amazing shots, and like others, it looks like a city afloat. I’m glad you had a good trip. A cruise is something we never did, but I sure know a lot of folks who love to go and go, and I’m glad it makes them happy. I’m sitting here wondering if you saw some birds along the way. 🙂

This was the biggest cruise ship we’ve been on. I don’t think I’d like the new bigger one that holds more people. I think this is as big as we’ll go.

I was on a Windstar cruise that had 150 people. I thought that was too many.

It was interesting to see some of the interior of the ship. Much of it reminded me of our high-end shopping malls.

The Esplanade reminds me of a high shopping mall as well.

That’s a feeling I get often while cruising. They feel like small cities that float.
