Whatever Weds. Total Lunar Eclipse 11.8.2022

I didn’t think I’d be able to see the Lunar Eclipse this time around because snow and cloud cover was predicted in the forecast. I set my alarm anyway and thought I’d just photograph Totality since it was in the middle of the night and cold.

When I got up and looked out the window I couldn’t believe it, it was clear and barely a breeze blowing!

It was just a few minutes after 2:00 A.M. PST…(I think that’s the time we’re in now? 🤷‍♀️ ), when I started taking my test shot.

Totality began at 2:16A.M here and I was ready for it. This image was made at 2:221A.M

The next Total Lunar eclipse to be visible in the USA won’t be until March 14, 2025. Until then my mind will be shifting from the

Moon to the Sun as there is an Annular Solar Eclipse in October 2023. The last time I photographed an Annular Solar Eclipse was back in 2012. You can see that post here . I’m hoping I can get to the sweet spot to photograph it again.

It snowed here all day yesterday and is looking magical and very much like Winter is here.

I hope you’re all having a good week, and are staying warm and safe.

  1. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on one’s outlook, waking up at 2 a.m. is not a problem due my weird body clock. But quite unfortunately our sky was as you thought yours might be. And it was worth getting out there as you got a very nice shot, Deborah.

  2. Gosh, Deborah, your night sky photography is truly astonishing. I thought of you on the night of the eclipse when our skies were full of clouds and there was no lunar anything in sight…I hoped you were able to find it, and voila. Really great to see it through your lens. I love that rosiness that comes with the eclipse, and you captured it well.

  3. I love gazing at the moon and your photo is spectacular. I got up, saw the eclipse happen, but there were some clouds so I didn’t try to snap a pic. And even if I had tried, it wouldn’t be this wonderful.

  4. That’s a great photo. I am so glad you set your alarm and disregarded the forecast. We were under heavy cloud cover here. BTW, the link to your previous post takes me to the WP login page.

    1. Thank you so much, Dan. I’m glad I set my alarm too, and really happy that Mother Nature delayed the snow until after the eclipse here.
Also, a big THANKS, for the feedback about the link. I think I fixed it…at least it works when I click it. Let me know if you’re still having a problem with it please.

  5. Amazing shot, Deborah! Yes, we got about 4 inches of snow on Monday and it is super cold at night but sunny during the day! I will take that sunshine with the cold.
