Friday’s Feathered Friends- Rock Wren in Red Rocks Park

Hi! He-Man and I are home from a trip to the Denver, CO area for a wedding and vacation.

I haven’t uploaded too many images from the week yet, but here’s a little Rock Wren I spied while hiking in Red Rocks Park on the Red Rocks Trail. It was hunting for breakfast in a fenced off maintenance area just off the trail.

Rock Wren

Our last night there we had a lovely sunset …the first one all week actually. I grabbed a quick shot through our hotel room’s window.

Then I went down stairs to make an image of the courtyard with an evening blue sky and clouds behind it. I hoped for more sunset color but, it was too cloudy.

We had a great time, and visited several beautiful parks which I’ll be sharing images of soon.

I’ll be catching up with laundry, mail, and your blogs. What have I missed?

Happy Friday and week-end everyone!

    1. No, we flew. Both to and from flights were almost full, and the airports were packed with people. Covid-wise…so far so good for us we’re fine, and we didn’t see anyone sick. It was a mixed bag of people wearing and not wearing masks everywhere. From what we saw people are over it and going about their lives.

On our return flight we boarded then were held up at the gate because the ground crew walked off the job leaving the ramp attached to the plane with luggage still on it and more luggage still to be loaded. It took 40 minutes to get it finished loaded and us up in the air to fly home. Everyone took it in stride and patiently waited, but 40 minutes was beginning to feel like a long time. Now we know what was going on. We flew Southwest. Looking back at it our timing was good and we’re thankful we got home and not stranded!

      1. A little later in the day and you might have gotten stranded. Glad you made it in time.
We’re not eager to deal with flying but have been thinking about venturing out on the road for a few overnights. That’s why I asked, because I don’t know what to expect.

        1. The hotel we stayed at didn’t clean our room at all while we there, but we only had to ask to get more towels, and extra blanket, and we left our dirty towels and full trash cans outside our door and Housekeeping picked it up and emptied the trash and replaced the trash bag. It was quite doable and worked for us.

I would go. Live your life. Wear a mask or don’t, do what’s comfy for you both.

    1. Thank you so much, Judy!!

A large majority of people are traveling these days. The airports and rental car places were packed both coming and going!

The wedding was beautiful and the weather was too all week, and fall was in full swing which was a lovely bonus.

  1. Welcome back. I’m glad you had a good time and I envy you those mountains. 😉. Cute bird and a beautiful sunset. Reminds me of one I took photos of through a motel window in Albuquerque.

    1. Thank you so much, Janet! Those Rocky Mountains in that part of CO reminded us some much of home. They’re very similar to the Carson Spur in the Eastern Sierras, and the farm land there too reminded us of here.
It was a good trip and the wedding was beautiful.

  2. How love;y to have a time away Deborah, and fit so much into the time. It is always a plus to fit birding into each trip whether it be family celebrations or holidays. We just had another of our attempts at a holiday to see family and friends foiled by lock-down rules changing, we are supposed to be free to some degree next Monday. The most exciting part of a trip is often the unpacking of the photo treasures captured during the holiday, sometimes their unexpected surprises. Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Welcome home, Deborah. I’m glad you had a good time. The photos are beautiful. I like the picture of the
little wren and the sunset is very pretty. I hope you get to relax this weekend.

    1. Thanks, Dan! It’s going to be cold here so relaxing will be easy. 😀 We even got some sprinkles of rain this morning and over night. There’s snow on the mountains!

I didn’t see a lot of birds during the week, but I heard them. This is the only bird that was even close enough to photograph.

I was happy to see one good sunset while there.
