I went over the hill to Santa Cruz, CA. yesterday evening to photograph the rising Full Moon- the Buck Moon. I noticed this door getting out of the car. The light hit the glass just right.
It reminds me of an Abalone shell’s interior. The wood on this door looks so supple and soft doesn’t it. I want to touch that door to see if it’s really wood! 🙂
I’ll post the Buck Moon image soon!

I can’t believe I didn’t comment on this door because it is the most unusual and beautiful door I’ve ever seen in my entire life. So glad you went off on an adventure to capture the moon because this is a truly amazing find. I have a lot of questions I’d love the find out about its origin, etc. Amazing. 🙂
Isn’t it lovely? It’s my favorite door this year.
I too would love to ask about it, and touch it! 🙂 Thank you for the lovely comment Judy!
awesome capture
Thank you so much for the visit and comment! This is my favorite door so far this year. I wonder if I’ll find another so unique and interesting this year?
it is challenges like trying to one up one’s self that keep life interesting
Gorgeous! I had the same impression – it appears to have a soft, velvety quality to it. This door was created with love.
Well said Joanne! I agree. Thanks for the lovely comment! Hope you’re feeling much better!
Thank you – slowly, but surely!

Thanks Amy! have a lovely vacation!
That is a very special and beautiful door. I’m guessing it’s a one-of-a-kind creation, and I envy the person who was talented enough to make it. I love the gentle curves and the strategic use of glass. Great contribution to Thursday Doors, Deborah!
Thank you so much Dan! You’re probably right and it’s a one-of-a-kind door.
Wow, beautiful! And did you touch it? I would have – but there’s probably a front yard? In that case …maybe:)
Thanks dear Deborah for all your comments last week, that helped me feel get settled at my now url!
Thank you Jesh! No, I didn’t trespass and enter their yard, but I was sorely tempted! 🙂
Your welcome! xx
Imagine living behind a door that is a sculpture! I wonder if one of the people living in that house did it, or if he/she/they had it done. You’re right: it doesn’t look like wood, it looks like it’s alive. Alive and happy! Wow.
Thank you so much the comment Marian! I wished they had come out to ask me what I was doing so I could have talked to them about the door.
A gorgeous door! It must be a pleasure to come home to every time, for whoever lives there 🙂
I know right! Thank you so much Helen for the comment!
You’re very welcome, it really is a lovely door, so unusual 🙂
What an unusual door, it reminds me of a ear – although, so does a conch/abalone shell, lol.
Listening to the sea perhaps? 🙂
Lol! Yes.
That is one beautiful door. I agree that it does remind one of the inside of an Abalone shell.
Thank you Robert! I’m glad you see the Abalone shell likeness too!
Oh what a gorgeous find. I can only imagine the hours of sanding involved to get those beautiful smooth curves.
Thank you Norm! It must have taken days!
What a beautiful door.
Thank you Maralee!
Wow, what a gorgeous door!
Isn’t it! An unexpected, but delightful find!
A nice bonus to the buck moon~can’t wait to see it!
Oh my goodness! That’s so unusual and beautiful! What an amazing find! It does remind me of abalone, plus the curves. Just WOW. Great door! 🙂
Thank you so much Joey! I was excited to see it. The friend I went with who is not yet a door connoisseur was even impressed by this door.
I wish I had that door Deborah! Great find and photo!
Isn’t it pretty! It’s perfect for the seaside house it’s hinged to as well. Thank you for the comment and visit Antonia!
