Hope this one goes through. I don’t see my comment I tried to post yesterday and I think I did it right. Anyway, beautiful photograph! We are seeing a lot of swallowtails, too!

Thank you, Kendall! I don’t see it twice. WP is acting weird this morning. A lot of bloggers I follow by email aren’t showing up in my email! Sigh.

I enjoy seeing your Butterfly shots, these are great. I am missing out so far this year, without the rain we are getting no flowers booming this year.

Thank you so much, John! I hope you get some next year so you see flowers and butterflies.

Wow, wow, wow. We’re not getting our usual swallowtails this summer and I’m sad about that. Your photo is lovely.

Thank you so much, Ally! Maybe they’re here because we’ve had so many more this year than previous years. I blame our once every 10 year huge snow pack really. 😀

Beautiful shot. I’ve seen one this entire summer.

Thank you so much, Judy! We’ve had so many more. I think our huge amount of snow this year is playing into that. I hope anyway.

Beautiful captures Deborah. We never see beautiful Butterflies much here at all, most are further north in the more tropical climates. I love the Swallowtails they are some of the prettiest.

Thank you so much, Gordon! I had one feeding at my Hummingbird feeder two weeks ago …and me without my camera ready! DOH!!

Too bad no cellphone! Wonder if the hummers get aggressive when other species invade their feeding territory.

I discounted my cellphone thinking the image wouldn’t be any good. I’ve got 2 females and one male Black-chinned Hummers squabbling over the feeder but, they didn’t see the Butterfly that I’m aware of so it was able to drink in peace.

If it’s fast action on your iPhone try doing a vid then select individual frames to print. Or do a slowmo vid.

If I can get close enough to the feeder to try with the Hummer there I will. Thanks for that Top Tip, Gordon! 😀

I was wondering what the plant was but, after Linda mentioned Showy Milkweed I looked it up and she is right, and your are too with the type. Yeah! Thank you for the plant ID!!

Both of these seem pristine: brand new beauty on the wing. I noticed the milkweed, too. It looks like it might be a species I’ve only seen in the midwest: the showy milkweed. The apparent height and the leaves were clues.

There were so many flying and soaring around the river that morning. One flitted by me and nearly landed on my finger when I offered it, but it flew on. It was lovely. I didn’t know what this bush was called but, after you mentioned Showy Milkweed I looked it up and it’s common for my region and looks just like this. Thank you for the plant ID and lovely comment!! 😀

The flowers the swallowtails are on appear to be a milkweed of some sort.
