Friday’s Feathered Friends- American Bald Eagle

While out birding with the birding group at the beginning of the month we saw this wonderfully majestic bird fly in low and land on this branch above a pond.

American Bald Eagle

It stayed there for quite awhile just taking in its surroundings. I turned my attention to another bird for a second and poof! Off flew the Eagle.

I’m way behind with your blogs as I spent the better part of this week at Baby Girl’s doing school runs, and playing with Littlest while she was swamped with training meetings. I’m home now and beginning to play catch up.

I hope you all have a wonderful week-end. I’ll be catching up with laundry, emails, snail mail, and blogs, and speaking of blogs WP sent me a notice today wishing me a happy 12th Blogversary.12 years! It doesn’t feel that long to me. Thank you all so much for finding my blog, for the comments, conversations, and most of all for the friendships we’ve forged throughout these years. 🥰 Thank you all so much!!

  1. What a stunning photo Deborah!! Wow!
Hubby and I were driving home from the lake after New Year’s and spotted 2 eagles eating a dead deer on the side of the road. It was such a surprise! They are such majestic birds, I wasn’t aware they ate deer carcass. 😉

  2. Hmm which was more fun Littlest or capturing that eagle. Don’t answer it is a silly question. Happy blogversity. Enjoy Littlest time every chance you get.

  3. That Ansel Adams quote above resonates with me as well, Deborah, and what a amazing shot! Congratulations on your anniversary. I just passed 10 years and thought that was forever. 🙂 I hope you get lots done over the weekend but still have time to enjoy being home.

  4. At least you got a good shot of this eagle before turning your attention to another one.
Happy dozen years. I suspect only a small percent of people who start a blog continue for that long.

  5. Beautiful Picture Deborah! Looking forward to more birding and flowering with you this year. Have a cozy, fun, gentle weekend. 🙂

  6. We have a tragic lack of Bald Eagles here in the Netherlands. 😦 But! No worries, as the Australians say. We do have a blog in the US that shows fantastic pictures of, among other birds, doors, landscapes and many more, Bald Eagles. Congratulations with the 12the aniversary of your blog, Deborah! Let’s add another 12 years. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Josh! Actually it’s only 400mm and never enough reach, but the Eagle landed right above the pond and near the path so I crept up as close as I dared and used a pine tree to help shield me, and I cropped my image a bit.

        1. It does and I have thought about adding it but, never have. It’s a slow lens to begin with and since I shoot a lot in the morning when the light isn’t good stopping down more isn’t ideal and since it’s a cropped sensor camera adding higher ISO adds noise…so I talk myself out of it then forget about it.
