Who doesn’t love a bluebird! “Pretty boy, pretty boy!” she chirps.
Chirp, chirp! 😀💙
Blue is a beautiful color on a bird. Lovely captures, Deborah! I love it when bluebirds make it to my yard. They make it so vibrant. I was amazed by the size of the Great Blue Heron. During our kayaking in the North Carolina salt marshes, we saw many White Egrets and one Great Blue Heron rise up from the marsh and take flight. Just stunning!
Blue! Love it and each one of these images is wonderful. What a shot of the heron! These blues are a real day brightener 🙂
Happy hunting this weekend~hope you see lots of butterflies!
Thank you so much, Melissa!!
Can’t remember whether I ever asked if you know the song “The Bluebird of Happiness.”

I never heard it before today!! Jan Peerce’s voice is beautiful!
I have a little glass Blue Bird of happiness in a birdcage that sits on the hearth in my living room.
A glass bluebird of happiness: how nice.

Nice ones. 😊
Thank you, Irene.
Love the flying Great Blue Heron!
These are so wonderful, Deborah I’ve see herons, but I’m not sure I’ve seen this variety. The in-flight shot is amazing. We tried to attract bluebirds, but we were unsuccessful. I see them on rare occasions but I have no pictures. Thanks for sharing yours.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Thank you so much, Dan! The Great Blue Heron’s are quite striking and I must confess a little scary. Once I was birding out in the Bay Lands in the Bay Area and while walking along a levee right on the edge of the path was a Great Blue Heron just standing there. It knew I was there, and didn’t move. I stopped short and was shocked it didn’t fly away. I had never been so close to one before about 3 feet away. The size of that bill and knowing how deadly they are to frogs, voles, squirrels, and fish I won’t lie my stomach flipped when I thought about how close I was and how fast they are…I moved way over as far as I could go and passed it. 😀
I saw a Mountain Blue Bird on Friday! That was a lifer for me! The image isn’t that good though.
These were impressive. I’ve only ever been close to a goose, and that didn’t turn out well. I was on my bike. She thought I got too close to her babies (10-12′ away) and started pecking at my feet as she chased me. I can understand why you were nervous.
Gorgeous blues, Deborah. That heron in flight is quite an amazing photo. I look forward to your butterflies and wild flowers.
Thank you so much, Jennie!
You’re welcome, Deborah!
Oh, those gorgeous blues, Deborah. Thank you for beautifying my day!! I’m jealous of your chance to see wildflowers. I missed them in Illinois before we moved and wasn’t anywhere to see any in Arizona. I shall look forward to photos. Have fun!
janet
Thank you so much, Janet! You would have loved the hike I did yesterday. Although I was tired, stiff, and cramping up last night. It was worth all the miles, and cramps. I’m still stiff today some Yoga stretches are in plans for this morning.
Sounds like a good day, despite the stiffness.
Beautiful, Deborah.
Thank you so much, John!
😊
Gorgeous photos. When Mother Nature does blue, she excels.
She does indeed! Thank you so much, Ally. 😀
Lovely shots Deborah!
Thank you so much, Brian! I thought of you and tried to channel your gift of photographing butterflies while hiking and looking for them yesterday. I saw one that might have been an Admiral! It was big, and hadn’t yet opened it wings. ID’ing it I hope this morning. That would be a lifer for me if it is an Admiral.
Good photos of some handsome feathered friends. Happy hiking.
Thank you, Judy! I sure enjoyed seeing them.
Wonderful photos this week Deborah! I loved seeing your Scrub-Jay & Western Bluebird! Nice shot of the Great Blue Heron in flight! Have fun on your adventures and talk to you soon! 🙂
Thank you so much, Lisa for the opportunity to share them. Who knows when I’d get around to it otherwise. 😀
I went years without going through my pics until I started blogging. I’ve been organizing years worth of pics in the past year. It’s been really good for me. 😊
Gorgeous photos, Deborah! I have to remember how the Heron is actually a large bird and amazing how they can carry themselves so gracefully in the sky. Looking for wildflowers and butterflies sounds like a perfect day. Enjoy!
Thank you so much, Erica! They are very graceful aren’t they. It was a lovely day hiking and the wildflowers were gorgeous. I have lots of images to sift though now. 😀
Great pictures! 🙂
Enjoy your weekend, and stay safe and healthy,
Pit
Thank you so much, Pit! You too!
These are wonderful! I’ve never seen a scrub jay before. The detail is excellent.
Thank you so much, Belinda! Really, you haven’t seen one? I thought they’d be all over North America. Lemme go look up their range…Oh! They don’t go up your way. I learned something new this morning! I hadn’t really realized there are so many Jays either. There are 13 in North America and I’ve only seen 5 of them. 😀
We have three species of jay here. It’s always nice to see a new one. 😊
It is isn’t it. 😀
Such beautiful shades of blue. Their color may not be as brilliant, but herons in flight always take my breath away. Hugs on the wing!
They are so beautiful aren’t they…the Great Blue Herons. Thank you so much, Teagan!
Have a lovely week-end! xx
These type of ‘blues’ are welcomed any day! 😃 Wonderful captures, Deborah.
I agree with you, Donna! I hope you have a lovely week-end!
Same to you, Deborah!
