Wordless Wednesday 19/52 “Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” ― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

    1. Thank you so much Robin!

Mockingbirds tend to look the same so size and behavior are usually the things used to distinguish between the sexes.
Males sing more, and are bigger than the females. Since this one was singing a lot and hanging out in one territory in early Spring I’m going to guess Male singing his heart out to attract a mate, and protecting its territory.
      But it’s just a guess.

      1. Deborah, thanks for sharing your first-hand experience! You truly do know more from all the patience and time watching birds and observing their behaviors. I think of this as an educated guess. 🙂
