I actually painted this in late October and thought if it came out alright I’d post it for this month’s Draw-a-Bird day.

I’ve never seen a Barred Owl in the wild but, would love to!

  1. What a lovely, sweet painting! I’m so glad you posted it. There is a man who travels all over Illinois leading owl walks. I recently went to a program he put on, complete with calls and stuffed birds. It was quite a performance! He is particularly fond of barred owls.

    1. How cool you know your Spirit Bird! I don’t have a sense of knowing mine like I do my Spirit Animal. It’s Deer. 🙂 Perhaps I don’t have one.
Occasionally, I feel as if I’ve walked with the Spirits of certain birds, and animals when I happen to see them in the wild and they see. It’s hard to describe the spiritual feeling I get, but it’s quite a blessing!

      1. I once posted a story of a cardinal who came knocking on my window as almost a spiritual message from my grandfather. I painted for my Mom’s 85th birthday, a pair of young cardinals with autumn leaves. I am hoping my column of tags would lead someone if they wanted to see this or read the tale. I sent it out into the magazine world and the only place who sent me a note back was Guideposts. They did many people have felt that birds can be “angels” and appreciated the story. (No, didn’t publish it though! 😉 )
