Happy Independence Day!

I’m spending the day with my family, laughing, eating way too much, and being thankful for all my blessings; the freedom, and liberty we have in this country which was hard won by my/our forefathers.  John Adams summed my feeling today when he said, “[L]iberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.”
John Adams

I wish all my fellow countrymen and women a wonderful day full of fun, great food, and maybe some fireworks shared with those you love!  If you’re not celebrating Independence Day today I hope you have a lovely day too!

I made this image a couple of weeks ago at the Rodeo with a Nikon Df & Nikkor 80-200mm lens.

More to come…

  1. I spent Independence Day on the island of Lana’i and it was fun. The neighbors invited us over for a cookout with hamburgers, grilled meats, vegetarian shish kabobs, and of course desserts. The town had their fireworks show on the 2nd, coinciding with their “Pineapple Festival” (sadly, no pineapples are grown there anymore).

Hope you and your family had a fun day. What a perfect photo for the occasion!

    1. Thank you Wayne!
Your Holiday sounds like it was great fun, and the menu sounds delicious. Of course being on Lana’i sounds like paradise!

It’s sad there aren’t pineapple plantations on the Islands anymore.

We had a lovely long week-end and even saw a few fireworks. I don’t imagine the show where you were was very crowded. All the places to view them here get so terribly crowded that I rarely go view them anymore.

A penny for your thoughts...
