In April Lili of Lili’s Cakes blog challenged her readers to make a Tres Leches Cake and since I had never made one I decided to participate. The deadline to have my cake made was approaching fast so, on Mother’s Day I made my cake.
I used a Martha Stewart recipe I found online since I couldn’t get to the box with my Mexican Cookbook. 90% of my books are packed and stacked in boxes in the garage while we’re working on the house.
Anyway, the recipe was pretty easy, and I think the cake is delicious. Unfortunately, aside from #1 Grandson, and me no one else in my family likes milk so it didn’t get rave reviews here. 😦
So, I gave most of it to friends, and the work crew working on my house. What are friends and work crews for right? 🙂 I did save myself one piece though, and it was even better the next day!

Apparently, I missed this. That looks yummy.
Thank you Dan. It was yummy!
Lovely cake and beautiful presentation! Those blackberries and milk combo would have been delicious!
Thank you so much coconutcraze!
This looks beautiful! How wonderful being able to share around something so yummy 😉
Thank you Nina! I’m going to make a list of ingredients on my notepad in my cell phone and carry it with me so when I’m grocery shopping I can it with me all the time.
When pineapples are in season I’m going to make Lili’s pineapple flowers too. 🙂
Great idea! I adore Lili’s pineapple flowers too. So pretty 😉
What a pretty cake! Renovations are a bit inconvenient, but it sounds as though you had more people to share your baking with 🙂
Great cake Deborah! You’ve inspired me to try out the recipe you used to make the classic tres leches cake one day – that topping looks scrumptious! Lucky friends and work crew
