I was hoping to photograph the Eclipse on August 27th, but we’d had rain, and clouds for a couple of days and on Eclipse day it wasn’t looking promising out here. I set up anyway hoping for a pocket or a hole in the clouds.
No luck. Skunked again. We did have a beautiful pink sunset that evening though so, it kind of made up for missing the Eclipse.

Did you see the Eclipse? From the images I have seen it looked beautiful.

Another stunner, Deborah! I love it when the sky gives us such an array of colors, which you’ve captured so well here.

wow–what a stunning sunset your give to us, Deborah. Thank you! Our night was mostly cloudy that night, but the clouds parted for a little while and I got to see a part of it. But I didn’t see a sunset that night like this one, so I am happy.

Thank you so much, Yvette! Maybe we’ll get lucky and the next Total Lunar Eclipse. I’ll have to go somewhere to see it as it’s in June and it will be below the horizon when it starts and when it hits maximum here the Moon will be rising and be so dim I probably won’t be able to see it at all.

Thank you so much, Denise! It was much prettier in person. I really should have had another camera ready just in case…hindsight is always 20/20 isn’t it. 😊

What’s interesting is that even though clouds obscured the eclipse for so many, it also was the presence of clouds that made this sunset so wonderful!

That and all the smoke we’ve had from the Hawk fire. We had several nights and mornings with gorgeous color with the help from the smoke.

Sad about the clouds Deborah we have often had this problem down south missing the southern lights. Two of our family while in Spain witnessed it clearly, they cried as many did with the awesomeness of the dark.

I had a friend go to Spain for the Eclipse. He said it was really special.

I love that sunset, Deborah. We had heavy cloud cover during the eclipse. I applaud your optimism in setting up just in case. You did get a great photo.

I never seem to be in the right position to see an eclipse. Although I enjoyed the photo you got better than I would have anything at night. What breathtaking colors. Hugs.

I guess it won’t make up for event-sake, but believe me, you sunset is prettier then the eclipse was. Wonderful shot.

That sunset definitely makes up for no eclipse images. Beautiful skies and landscape alike.

Clouds eclipsed the eclipse in Austin, too. At least a good sunset compensated you over there (but not over here).

Wow. Did it ever make up for missing the eclipse. We have seen many photos that others took of the eclipse, but not one as beautiful as this scene. Thanks for sharing.
