I was hoping to photograph the Eclipse on August 27th, but we’d had rain, and clouds for a couple of days and on Eclipse day it wasn’t looking promising out here. I set up anyway hoping for a pocket or a hole in the clouds.
No luck. Skunked again. We did have a beautiful pink sunset that evening though so, it kind of made up for missing the Eclipse.
Did you see the Eclipse? From the images I have seen it looked beautiful.

What’s interesting is that even though clouds obscured the eclipse for so many, it also was the presence of clouds that made this sunset so wonderful!

That and all the smoke we’ve had from the Hawk fire. We had several nights and mornings with gorgeous color with the help from the smoke.

Sad about the clouds Deborah we have often had this problem down south missing the southern lights. Two of our family while in Spain witnessed it clearly, they cried as many did with the awesomeness of the dark.

I love that sunset, Deborah. We had heavy cloud cover during the eclipse. I applaud your optimism in setting up just in case. You did get a great photo.

I never seem to be in the right position to see an eclipse. Although I enjoyed the photo you got better than I would have anything at night. What breathtaking colors. Hugs.

I guess it won’t make up for event-sake, but believe me, you sunset is prettier then the eclipse was. Wonderful shot.

Clouds eclipsed the eclipse in Austin, too. At least a good sunset compensated you over there (but not over here).

Wow. Did it ever make up for missing the eclipse. We have seen many photos that others took of the eclipse, but not one as beautiful as this scene. Thanks for sharing.
