Some of you may recall that He-Man and I took a Cruise to Alaska on board the Quantum of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean Ship earlier this month. I thought I’d start sharing our trip with photos of our stateroom .
We were sailing out of the Port of Seattle so we flew up a day before our cruise departed. We stayed in the north end of town in a Comfort Inn & Suites. The room and hotel were nice, the neighborhood…a little sketchy, but we felt safe enough to walk to the nearby stores and a restaurant for dinner. We just pulled our city street awareness spidy senses out of the archives and stayed alert while walking.
This was the view from our room of downtown Seattle, and Mt. Rainier way in the distance on the left just as the city lights were coming on for the evening.

That parking lot is car dealer spare lot we think.
We took an Uber to the port after checking out of the hotel. Getting through security and checking in with Royal Caribbean was a breeze. Our stateroom wasn’t quite ready so we headed up to the Windjammer Cafe for lunch. I haven’t got any photos of that sorry!
Then we headed to Deck 12 mid-ship to our stateroom hide-away for our departure. We had a stateroom with a balcony on the port side of the ship. The images in the gallery are our main stateroom and view of the balcony, one closet, we had two closets, the bathroom, the big bed…bigger than our Queen at home and there was storage in a cupboard above the bed, the vanity I used for applying my makeup, and over the course of the cruise our Stateroom Attendant left us 4 towel animals. My favorites were the bear, and elephant.

Views from our stateroom balcony-the busy port where people were being dropped off to get onboard, and the port crew loading the luggage, food, and all the things we’d need for the week, and the Seattle Skyline from our balcony on Deck 12 shortly after we left the port.

We’re off! North to Alaska, the rush is on!

This is the movie that made me want to go to Alaska when I was girl. I had this song in my head off and on the whole trip. 😊
more to come…
What a great adventure for you both. The accommodations look nice!

I enjoyed your Seattle and cruise photos, Deborah. And you’re such a wildlife person–even had favorites of the animal towels! Looks like a grand adventure, I look forward to seeing more.

That song was new for me and I like the part about the “rush is on” and how you noted that in your post – and loved the photos here…. looks like a lot of fun

Your cruise sounds wonderful! When we traveled by RV through Alaska in 2013 we started each driving day listening to “North to Alaska”! We love Alaska so much we took an Inside Passage cruise in 2022. I can’t wait to see the rest of your adventures!

Know the song and have seen the movie multiple times. 🙂 Looks like you had a great start to your trip. Looking forward to seeing more photos.

That looks a spacious stateroom and great to have a balcony to watch the world float by. I’ve can’t get that tune out of my head now, very catchy ….

Sorry about that! I hope by now you have a new ear worm.
We love having the balcony anytime we can get one at hotels, cruises…we do love sitting out on them watching the world go by.

Your room was spacy enough Deborah! Nice! Seattle speaks to my imagination somehow, far away, windswept, christal air and water, Jimi Hendrix. The perfect place to start a journey to even more remote terrain. I’m looking forward to more stories and pictures!

You need to go to Seattle and bring your imagination to life! I’d love to see Seattle through your viewfinder.

Looks lovely and well appointed room on board Deborah. We have been talking about doing a cruise but I don’t know that I could sit still long enough as I am an action man. Very blessed to enjoy exploring that part of the world. Are you still on this cruise or have you returned ?

Thank you so much, Ashley! You don’t need to sit long unless you want to. There’s a lot to do on a ship. There’s a gym, several pools, a track to run or walk on, when we had stormy days and they closed the outdoor pools and track we walked the decks from forward to aft several enough to get in a mile, and we took the stairs up from deck 3 to deck 15 twice a day, there’s a library, trivia games throughout the day, a rock climbing wall, bumper cars, foosball, real shuffle board on the ground not a table, ping pong, evening shows, and more I can’t think of right now. I don’t think you’d be bored on sea days.
We’re home now. I usually tell you about trips after the fact for security reasons.

Thanks Deborah, you appear to have had a wonderful time.

It was fun and relaxing at the same time. Our sea days were stormy so I took the opportunity to walk the decks, and catch up on some reading. Not that my To Be Read stack is any shorter now, but it was nice just to be able to read and get lost in my book for hours.

It was I think the biggest stateroom we’ve ever had on a cruise ship, but this was the largest cruise ship we’ve been on. Those towel origami animals were fun.

It looked big. And yes, those towels were fun!

Thank you so much, Jill! 😊We had a couple of stormy days thankfully they were sea days so our excursions weren’t affected.

It does look stately and I love the fancy towels 😊

It was comfy and I really liked those towel animals. They had a class onboard to learn how to make them, but I didn’t make it. I’m sure there’s lesson on YouTube. It’s towel origami. 😊

Here’s a funny coincidence. When I set off on Alaska Eagle to sail from Hawaii to Alaska, the song we played as we left the Kauai anchorage was “North to Alaska” — and that version, too!

😊 How fun that cruise sounds and adventurous. I think that version must be a classic.

I remember the song and the movie. I’m glad you had a great trip. The photos of your stateroom look very nice. The view as you were leaving port brings back memories from when I lived in Seattle and the times that I’ve gone back to visit. I had to laugh at your comment about the neighborhood being a little sketchy. I lived a few miles south of where your hotel is located, just south of Woodland Park. I’m looking forward to more pictures from your cruise.

Thank you, Dan! As a girl I watched a lot of sci-fi and westerns.
We arrived early before our hotel check-in time but, we were able to drop off our luggage then we took an Uber into downtown. It was packed! The public market was really elbow to elbow. It was so much busier with tourist than 20 years ago when we were last there. We did the Underground tour again which never disappoints, and found a good spot for lunch a few blocks away from the public market.

I haven’t been back for about 15 years, so I’m sure I’d be surprised (again). I lived there before Microsoft was a thing.

As soon as I saw your words, “North to Alaska, the rush is on!,” I knew what song you were referencing. I remember it well.
