He-Man and I went back to Santa Barbara, CA for a long week-end to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the end of March. While out and about I photographed a couple of doors, and a gate.

This post is part of the weekly challenge Thursday Doors hosted by Dan Antion over at https://nofacilities.com/
Head on over there to see more doors from around the world or join the craze and add a door or two of your own. 😊
I’m out photographing wildflowers and I hope waterfalls today so I’ll be late responding to your comments and visiting your posts, but I’ll get there.
more to come…

Love the last one ❤

Oh I really enjoyed this post
I love the light emitting in the third doors, the second door is my fav as the house behind it looks really interesting – and the first photo – well the way you angled the steps and walkway – and the contrast with black door – made it so inviting.

It has become a favorite place for a week-end get-away when we want some beach time, birding, and hiking. Kayaking is a bonus. Next time we’ll take our own kayak rather than renting one.
Thanks for hosting and giving us door and architecture lovers a place to land and share. The community here is wonderful.

I remember biking along the waterfront. It was such a pleasant place to stay.

Deborah, these are beautiful doors. I got a kick out of your placement of your copyright on the stair. The hen and chick plants on that one are amazing — they’re growing so thickly. Hugs.

The firs photo of the black door is unusual. I like the subtle detail and that it is a shiny black. Around here people sometimes have matte black front doors and I don’t get why. So uninviting. [Did I just answer my own question?]

LOL! I think you did. I’ve always loved a satin or glossy finish black door with brass hardware. I love the kick, and hand plates they use a lot in the UK. At my old house I put kickplates on a few of the doors, but I haven’t here.

Such grand entrances Deborah. The doors express something of the character and background to the one who dwells therein.

They do! It’s fun to wonder about that too.

I especially like the second one, not primarily for the door but for the entire look. Happy belated anniversary! I just got back from southern California as well. Had some lovely family time and a wonderful trip to Descanso Gardens.

Happy Anniversary, Deborah!!! I can only imagine the many doors that you opened since you were married. As I look back, every door Don and I entered created unforgettable memories. I love doors – they symbolize opportunity, adventure, or even mystery, inviting us to explore new experiences. Your photos are wonderful doors that I would love to enter!!!

Thank you so much, Jet! It was a tough hike to the falls for me. I suffer from elevation sickness and the older I get the worse it gets. It was worth it though. The flowers are at peak now and gorgeous.

I thought so too! I love a good door mat. I change mine quite a few times throughout the year to match the season or holiday.

Santa Barbata is a wonderful place to visit for a celebration. (Or, for that matter, every occasion.) Nice and warm in the southern Californian sun. Congrats with your wedding anniversary, Deborah!
