This is extra awesome Deborah! Love the silos and how they are reflecting light.

Thank you so much, Denise! I liked the way the silos caught the light as well. I didn’t have to do any light painting myself. 😊

Fantastic photo! The silos really make it so with the exposure, colors, and tone. Also, it’s ineteresting to see a starry sky with a light background vs the usual black sky. I’m a bit envious of people who do astro photography and/or stacking. I just don’t have the patience to go through the process go either.

Thank you so much, David! I like the sky on the blue side verses the black/blue/green colors in the sky I usually get when shooting in Raw. Stacking isn’t so bad once you get the hang of layers, and doing it a few times. Since I haven’t got a tracker stacking the best way to capture as many stars as possible as if I did have a star tracker.

Oh my goodness! This is beautiful. The silos seem to add magic to the sky. I think of all the city kids who have never seen stars.

Thank you so much, Jennie!! I know, when we lived in the city and my kids were growing up I would wake them up in the wee hours to drive out in the country or mountains to look for meteors, and show them the stars and constellations. They always just wanted to go back to bed then, now they appreciate it. 😂
I used to love staying up late and going to the ranger talks about the stars when I was a girl when we camped in National Parks.

You put a big smile on my face! Hats off to Mama Deborah for waking up the kids to drive out and see the stars. I’ve never been to a National Park, so I can only imagine how special it was for you hear the ranger speak when you were a girl. Any sky at night with stars is a treat!

Oh my goodness – what a spectacular sky… and those silos look so outer-spacey… (sorry not very articulate!) Linda xx

I’ve never seen such beautiful silos, and I’m rather a connoisseur of silos! I don’t understand a thing about stacking and such, but the result is gorgeous.

A well-crafted blending of day and night. Did the 11 frames differ in exposure rather than focal length?

Thank you, Steve! All eleven frames were shot with the same settings and focal length.

Then in what way(s) were the 11 frames different from one another?

The Milky Way was moving the whole time I was shooting and to pick up the light on the silos I was able to get the timing right from a car far down the road approaching so the just kissed the silos without blowing them out. I didn’t time them all right I had a lot to throw out from being blown out from a passing vehicle. It was fun and challenging.
During the stacking process the program aligned the stars and averaged out a good chuck of the noise.

Thank you so much, Judy! I waited and waited for the Milky Way to line up right where I wanted it to for this shot.
