Whatever Weds.-Classic Cars

Last week I was making my way around a big loop birding and at one stop I happened upon a Classic Car group just as they were starting to pull out. I hurriedly grabbed my other camera with a wide angle lens and ran to a place near the exit to get a few images. I wasn’t fast enough to get an image of all the cars, but I did get a several. Here are some of my favorites.

Classic Car in Cream.

This one is just so cool. Is it a muscle car? I’m sorry I didn’t get there earlier to note the makes and models of all the cars. Look at that engine though.

The drivers were pretty cool when they saw me with my camera they slowed down and let me get some nice images. 😊

Classic Car Pontiac I think. I love the sun guard over the windshield.

Look at those white walls with red accent stripe. Nice.

And last, but not least my favorite Red car of the lot.

That was a fun surprise.

What wasn’t fun was waking up yesterday morning to the “DREADED BLACK SCREEN”! My computer was good and truly looking dead. Thankfully, He-Man found a way to get it back up, but it required a whole new start from my backup system. So all my documents, and files are here, but all my apps have to be reinstalled and all my preferences reset. My Photoshop Actions are all gone so I’m starting from scratch remaking those and slowly adding my presets and apps back in.
It’s been a chore, but I’m so grateful for having a backup system in place. I highly recommend one or two if you haven’t got yourself one already. In the meantime I think it’s time to start shopping for a new computer desktop tower because this one might be on the way out.

I hope your week is going well and there are no unpleasant surprises in it!

  1. Lovely photos, Deborah. Those are great cars and they seem very well restored. Nice of them to slow down for you. I am sorry about the black screen. I’m glad He Man was able to restore it, but I know the work involved in setting things back up. I hope that goes well.

      1. Only two of the five showed up. Yesterday I had to resubscribe to your blog. WP is having hiccups.

I think I am nearly there getting back up. He-Man is busy making sure my backup programs are working which is giving me peace of mind.

Those car do look well cared for.
Thanks for trying so many times to get your comment through. I appreciate that!!

  2. Computer problems bring us to our technology knees. I’m glad you had help, but I’m guessing until you get a new one you’ll dread waking it up every time. 🙂 The cars are fabulous. I always wonder about the skills, facilities, and budgets that are required to own a classic car. Applause to them all and for sharing with the rest of us.

    1. Thank you so much, Judy! I was ready to chuck it out the window but, He-Man said well, hold on lemme try something. I’m so glad he understands how they work.

Classic cars must be a very expensive hobby…but then most hobbies are.

  3. Aren’t they cute, the cars? I know one should not use words like cute when talking about machines, but what else can you say. 🙂 The engine outside is something I’ve never seen before, and the yellow of the car! Wow. I think the Pontiac is my favorite, a car like a Gotham building. Great pictures Deborah! Your black screen sucks. Setting up the whole thing again is a drag. I keep all my files copied at least once, but yeah, a system reset is a chore. I hope it is worth the work!

  4. Lucky Day; not often you run into a classic cars club! Nice shots and these guys usually like to display and show their beauties to people and photographers!
Sorry to hear about the dreaded computer crash. Been there and lost many original photos. You’re lucky, you have a live-in computer tech to help you; just feed him and your tech issues get managed (I had to pay for my problems and it gets expensive!).

    1. Thank you, Gordon! It was a happy coincidence for sure running into that car club.

You have a good backup system in place now though right so you don’t loose photos again?

Hopefully once I’ve got everything back up and running it stays running for awhile giving me time to shop for a new computer.

    1. It must have been cool driving around in it. We had nothing like these when I was growing up. My Mom had one of the first Datsun’s in the country when I was little. That’s the first car I remember. Then we had a Jeep, followed by a station wagon. That’s what I learned to drive with.

  5. oh God, thanks Deborah! You reminded me I need to back up my laptop on my external drive. It’s been awhile. Car shows are fun. When we lived in Daytona Beach, there was always something going on, but the Turkey Run was my favorite. So many fun rods to photograph and many were themed. Nice images! Good luck getting all your programs and apps running again.

  6. So fun! I remember from my childhood seeing around the neighborhood a Pontiac like the one you shared here, but it was black. It looked like a toy to me.

  7. Love the cars, especially that yellow one with the funky engine and your favorite red one. The computer issue is horrifying to contemplate and I really need to be better about that. Glad He-Man could come to the rescue!

  8. How cool you’re going to be right there for the show! I hope you’re able to get some good photos from your location.

It was different shade of red from the standard candy apple red I liked besides the shape of the car.

I am happy to report my computer was still up and running this morning! Fingers crossed it stays that way!

  9. Condolences on your computer woes. I murmur encouraging words to mine every day, hoping to keep it happy and functioning.

It’s too bad you can’t magically arrive in my neighborhood this weekend. It’s time for Keels and Wheels, a big classic car and boat show. I’m not sure if they’re having the car auction this year, but the show draws museum curators, big spenders, and just plain enthusiasts from all around the country. Because I’m working where the show will be held, I get to see many of the entries without having to put up with the huge crowds at the event.

I like the color of the yellow car, but the red one’s my favorite, too.
