Last week-end we went down to SoCal to visit Big Baby Boy and the Dark Haired Beauty for several days. It was lovely walking on the beach and in the canyon with them and just hanging out. We talked about their upcoming wedding a bunch, and how that’s going. It’s coming up so fast! Less than 8 weeks to go now! I’ve got my dress and hat and He-Man’s good to go suit wise too, So far everything is falling into place so, it should be beautiful.
I also passed a milestone last Thursday…I turned 65 years young. There are many days my body feels 65 but, not my spirit! I’m still a kid inside. 😀
There were lots of cultivated flowers in late stages of their bloom around Big Baby Boy’s, some I’ve missed because they just don’t grow where we live. Here are a few;

Sunday we had heavy clouds predicted and strong winds and sure enough they rolled in all day just in time for the Lunar Eclipse. I hoped there would a pocket or two of clear sky in the Moon’s path so I could see and photograph just one frame. There was a nice pocket along the mountain tops so I quickly made a few images of the Moon as it crested the mountains. It was already in Totality by then as well. It was very different from last year’s May Lunar Eclipse when there was a clear sky.

It quickly rose into the clouds and I didn’t see it again that night.
We’re going to see Baby Girl and the boys later this week to celebrate her birthday, my birthday, and Mother’s Day. I’m looking forward to that.
The weather has definitely warmed up here. It was 81 degrees yesterday and just as warm today, so I put out the patio cushions and spent a lovely hour out back chatting with the neighbor. How’s the weather where you are? Ready for summer?
I hope you’re having a good week!

more to come…
Happy belated birthday! 💐 All your photos are stunning but I especially like the Bird of Paradise!
Thank you so much, Jill! You know something, I didn’t really like the Bird of Paradise flower too much and then I one morning years ago I saw a fresh one in the most gorgeous light and I was struck by its beauty. I’ve liked them all very well since. Luckily I had my camera so I photographed it to remember that particular flower.
Happy birthday Deborah! It just so happens that I am 65 years young too but with a birthday in July, not for long. I like your moon shot. It’s different from the many I have seen.
Thank you so much, Denise! The weather had a huge hand in how that Lunar Eclipse looked. I went through my archives looking back 10 years at the Lunar Eclipses I’ve photographed and some have been different because of fog, or clouds, daylight etc. I’m glad I stuck out the crumby weather ones because they are so different.
Happy birthday 🥳🥳🥳 I love hibiscus, and your photo triggered memories from my childhood, when we drank nectar directly from the flowers (a favorite pastime that transported us to imaginary lands 🌺🧚♀️…). Thank you for reminding me of such wonderful memories, your images have seem to have a magical power!
Thank you so much!! 😍
Your long forgotten memory that was retrieved from viewing my image is why I love photography so much. One photo can open up memories and take us back to a forgotten moment in time almost like time travel. 😀
What did the nectar taste like? I’ve never tried it. I used to chew sour grass as a kid. Just the thought of it made my jaws tingle and my mouth salivate a little and my face screw up into a sour pucker. 😂😂
Lol, yes, I remember that as well. And it’s funny, to this day I like sour flavor, I wonder if it started back then? 🙂
The nectar came in very small quantities per flower, but it was extremely sweet, made it worth the effort 🌺 Sweet and sour, it turns out we can find so much wonder out there! That’s why I like your photos so much, you are able to capture moments of wonder, thank you for sharing them!
😀
Beautiful photographs. Excellent shots of those unique moments that nature gives you.
Fraternal greetings.
Thank you so much!
A happy birthday to you:) All last week it was in the 90ties! Happy we are getting back to 80ties during the day, and cooling and dipping back to 70ties during the night. And had a tornado warning yesterday, already the 2nd one since we live here. The bloodmoon is faint, but definitely there! Happy you were able to catch it:) Emille (Jesh)
Thank you so much, Jesh! We’ve been having mid 80’s but breezy here.
And you probably don’t have the humidity we have here (which took me more adjustment than the warmer temps.)
That always surprises me to know that TX has humidity! I always think of TX as hot and dry not humid. I can totally relate though to how hard that adjustment is. I don’t do well in hot and humid weather at all. My preference is hot and dry. I don’t think I’d ever adjust completely to hot and humid weather. I hope you do.
I force myself to think (meaning me) you can do it, everyone else here does, haha
When my Mom moved to FL she said it took several years to adapt to it so you will! 😃
I don’t know what the third flier is either / but all three of the flower images today have a floating vibe!
And the weather here is rainy all week / light drizzle kind of stuff – and kind of nice after a heat wave last week.
Happy belated bday! 🎈🎈🎈
Thank you, Yvette! 😃 Our weather is changing to cold and windy tomorrow and maybe snow up in the mountains around the lake. 😮
Oh wow – snow? Will you get to see any of it from your window or is it very far off?
We have rain today and maybe put it two inches – been raining on and off all week and at first but not missing sunshine
If it’s snowing in the mountains they’ll probably be under clouds and I won’t see it actually snowing. I hope it does b/c the recent warm days we’ve had has melted a lot of the snow that is up there. The mountains are so pretty with snow on them.
Oh yeah – so pretty to see snow caps! Today is supposed to be the last day of rai for us for a little while –….
Ready for sunshine ☀️
I hope you get some sunshine soon!
Thank and actually a little reprieve right now – hear birds and a little daylight without rain- not so much sun but still a nice way to end the day!
😃
Some great photos!
So beautiful! I think one of the great joys of being an artist is we never grow up.
😃 Thank you so much, Kendall! I hope we stay young in spirit forever.
Welcome! Me, too!
A belated Happy Birthday!
Thank you so much, Pit!!
👍
Happy Birthday and Happy Mother’s Day. Fabulous photos! Your Wednesday photos are always a highlight for me.
Thank you so much, Jennie! 😃💗
My pleasure, Deborah!
I think your eclipse photo is super, Deborah. Ethereal and serene. Lovely flower photos too. Happy Birthday to you.
Thank you so much, Jet!! 😃
Happy belated birthday; looks like you got your present by getting a shot of the eclipse! Your son has no plans to get the (was it Taco Bell celebration your daughter planned for her wedding?) esoteric wedding?😉. Hope all goes well!
Thanks, Gordon!! No, Big Baby Boy isn’t as big a Taco Bell fan as Baby Girl is. They’re having a traditional wedding. 😀 We hope it all goes well too.
Given that you caught the moon tangent to the land, we can imagine the moon rolling down the hill’s shallow slope.
LOL! I hadn’t thought of that! 🤣
I’m so glad to see your lunar eclipse pic, Deborah, as it wasn’t remotely viewable in my area. The tall trees make it difficult even on clear night, and it was very cloudy then. The flower pics are also quite nice. Thanks for snapping and sharing!
Thank you so much for coming by to have a look! Hopefully, November’s Lunar Eclipse will be clear, but since it’s November it’s iffy. 😃
A nice family visit and some gorgeous photographs. You always put your time to good use. Happy, happy birthday. 65 is a good number, but must admit each year after gets a little more physically challenging. 🙂 Exciting times – birthday, wedding, and family. It doesn’t get much better. Weather? Well, the first part of the week the winds were so bad I couldn’t stay out more than an hour, yesterday I wore a jacket it was so cold, and this weekend it is going to be over 90. The days of anticipating seasonal weather are over.
Thank you so much , Judy!! Did it get up in the 90’s today?
Let’s hope we can stay active for a long, long time! 😀
Yes, we had summer heat all weekend.
I hope it’s not too humid already too! We’re in the high 70’s today.
Happy Birthday, Deborah! Wonderful shots, I especially love your striking Bird of Paradise capture. Stunning!!
That’s all good news Deborah! I like the eclips picture. It’s kind of gloomy but all the more interesting. Congratulations with your 65th birthday! With a bit of luck I pass that milestone coming september. My body sometimes feels like made of wood and my mind…. I been thinking about that. What I seem to have preserved is my mental playfulness and sense of humor. Perhaps that is what defines me the most. I’ll let you know at our 85th birhtday. 🙂 Have fun with your family later this week!
Yes, let’s compare when we’re 85.😂 Thanks, Peter!
I like bird of paradise plants. They don’t grow here so I find them extra special. It’s wet and in the 60s here. Very green outside, but not pleasant to sit out in and chat. Yet.
Thank you so much, Ally! I agree! Birds of Paradise are so lovely and I don’t see them here at all so it’s really nice seeing them when I do.
Green sounds great to me. It’s getting green here too. Hopefully, you’ll be able to sit outside and enjoy a neighborly chat soon!
Summer? It would be difficult to tell here. 😉I’m glad your weather is being agreeable. The flowers are lovely. Lots of Bird of Paradise here. I think that moon shot is lovely because it isn’t typical. We didn’t see any red here but ahe shone like a beacon light for three days. One night it woke me up and I just pulled back the drapes and basked in her light. 🙂I hope all your celebrations were beautiful.
Thank you so much, Cheryl! Isn’t it nice when it’s the moonlight waking you up? 😀
It’s the best!
Congratulations on both counts, Deborah 😊. The photo of the eclipse is a beauty!
Thank you so much, Belinda! 😀
I am not surprised to see that you attempted eclipse photos and I nice complement to the flower images.
Thank you so much, Robert! 😀
Happy birthday, my friend, and thanks for celebrating by sharing your wonderful photos. I’m still a few years ahead of you, at an age that sounds much older (thankfully) than I feel! That’s a blessing. I can’t wait to have you show me how to do some night photography and we can celebrate your birthday in the mountains. 🙂
Thank you, Janet! I am excited about seeing your mountains and hanging out with you. It’ll be a celebration of fun and friendship. 🥰🥰
Happy Birthday. I am loving being closer to 70 than I am to 60. Here is my quote that I take out on my birthdays: “With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.” William Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice!! It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful summer with lots of celebrations. Love your photos. Vancouver was under cloud for the lunar eclipse so I am pleased to view it through you lens.
Thank you so much, Rebecca! I’m not digging the wrinkles and am fighting like mad to keep them at bay, but I do love that quote! Thank you for sharing it with me. 🤗
That’s a great quote, Rebecca, and suitable for any birthday after 50
😄
Thank you Rachel! I am delighted that we have connected.
Isn’t it delightful, connecting this way? What are the chances… Although by another chance, I have visited Emily Carr’s house and garden
Happy belated birthday, Deborah! Glorious photos, as always…
Deb
Thank you so much, Deb! 😍
The flowers are lovely, Deborah. The eclipse photo is stunning. I love the dark quality to it. It was raining here all night and into the morning.
It sounds like you have a lot of happy trips in your future. I hope you enjoy them all. Happy birthday!
Thank you so much, Dan! It shaping up to be a pretty great summer.
Congratulations Deborah on your 65 years young, my wife hit that also last month as she now navigates retirement also. Similar to yourself at 68 I love that I am young at heart and so do my grandchildren who love the little boy inside as I hold on to my youth. Love your beautiful flowers and especially your lunar eclipse capture, superb ! A very exciting time for you and the family as you approach the nuptials of your son and his bride.I pray it will be a beautiful experience for all and that their marriage will be a happy forever one.
Thank you so much, Ashley! May we all stay young on the inside! 😀
Lovely eclipse photo!
Thank you, Janis!
