Fall color has been a bit patchy here, but last week a friend and I found a little along the Carson River.

…some late bloomers,

and a Painted Lady. It’s been below freezing many nights and mornings this past week so I was surprised to see this butterfly still here.

I had a lovely visit with my Mom and Step-Dad. I hope you’re all having a good week, and are making some fun plans for the week-end. I’m going to see my Grandson’s, and my Mom once more before she heads back to warm and sunny FL, and hopefully, I’ll see some more of Falls beautiful colors and delights.

more to come…
Beautiful shots.

That patch of fall is glorious, Deborah! I’ve seen bits showing up around here, but not in spots for me to capture. I need to get out and hunt down some capturable pieces before it’s gone. I love those wildflowers and that butterfly. It captures that moment of seasons turning. I’m glad that you’ve had such wonderful visits with family.

Thank you so much, Amy! I hope you find some Fall Colors to photograph.
Time with my children, and Grandsons are precious, seeing my Mom was too. Time passes too quickly between visits and as she’s getting on in years…she’s 81 now and her heart is having issues I never know if this will be the last time I see her? Cherish the moments while you’ve got them right! Right! 😀

😃 It’s a good thing I speak Eliza Doolittle cause if I didn’t I would have no idea how to translate luffly. I know a round about way to get but… there it is.

Hi Deborah, Our Fall is a little patchy, too. I also think we are closer to Winter now. Your photos are beautiful! That is definitely a hardy, little butterfly. Have a great weekend:)

Thank you so much, Erica! The bright side of the patchy color is some is coming late which has been nice when I and a friend were out looking for fall colors this past two days.

Wonderful shot of the butterfly. Not only is it surprising to find a butterfly this late in the season, but it is a crisp, newly minted one at that!

I love that photo along the river, Deborah. We have the color, but not the mountains in the background. That adds so much. I hope you enjoy the visits.

Thank you so much, Dan! I can’t tell you how exciting it is and happy I am to be so close to these trees and scenery. I used to drive 5-6 hours to get over here for fall color.

LOL! I haven’t written a post that started with, “I rose at 3 AM” in a while! It feels good to sleep in. 😀

Beautiful, Deborah! We’re still on the verge of the start of the colors to begin, we can tell it’s about ready to happen….. 🙂

Lovely shots, Deborah. We’re starting to get some lovely colors here as well. I’m enjoying each moment, as I don’t think cacti spines change color in fall. 🙂

Thanks so much, Janet! No, those don’t, but there’s more color than one thinks there is in the desert. Rabbit bush is in bloom now too and it’s a gorgeous yellow too.

Lovely photos! So nice to see pictures of fall since we don’t get much of the beautiful color changes around here. I just bought a Lumix FZ300 in anticipation of an upcoming trip… did you happen to get a macro lens (the kind that screw on like a filter) for yours? They aren’t very expensive and I’m considering buying one for close-ups.

Thank you, Janis! I believe I did, but I have no idea where it is since my move, and I didn’t use it too much at all. The one I use a lot is my Canon close up lens on my DSLR lenses.
I told myself when I bought the little close up filter for the FZ200 to play with it to get competent with it, but I never did opting for my DSLR and macro lens instead.
Now you’ve got me wondering where the heck that little close up lens set is? I’m pretty there’s two strengths that I bought, but I might be mixed up and am thinking about the set for my iPhone…going to go dig around my camera gear boxes to see if I have them or just think I do! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯
Where you going? Can you say?
I’m going to London in the near future and am already agonizing over what camera and lens to take. Right now I’m leaning toward my DF and 24-120mm lens and maybe my 50mm and my travel tripod.

We’ll be heading back to Oaxaca soon. I bought the Lumix (or so I told myself) because it was lighter than my DSLR and had WiFi capabilities. I have to admit, though, that I’ve found it a bit complicated… I still haven’t figured out all the bells and whistles, including connecting to WiFi.

Did it have a manual? The FZ200 didn’t. I found all the ins and outs about it on YouTube. There’s a guy that’s all about the Lumix bridge cameras and he’s posted lots of information and setting suggestions. I found him very helpful with the FZ200.
Let me know if you want his name and a link to his YouTube channel.

I would love his name! I have watched a few by an English guy (maybe the same person you are referring too).

No doubt the same guy. Graham Houghton?
He even has book manuals.
Here’s the link.
Anyway, he got me going with my FZ200 through his videos.

Such beauty to behold! Love the fall colors in your photo! I am surprised too to see the purple flowers and beautiful butterfly! Our weather has been freezing and so we lose a lot of the gorgeous colors. 🍁🍂💜

Thank you so much, Jill! I was just as surprised to see those wildflowers, and the butterfly. It’s been warming up to the high 60’s, low 70’s but the nights are freezing or below who knew these would still be around to see?

Nice photos, Deborah. I really like the two closeups. The diffuse light works better than if it was a sunny day.

The clouds were helpful, but it was smokey too from the prescribed burns that have been going on. One day last week I couldn’t even see the mountains!
Merci beaucoup cher Robert!

Thank you so much Ally! You never how good or not the color will be. Some years it’s everywhere and other years not so much. This year is weird and patchy. Some say too much water, and the early cold snap and wind, but who knows?
