This pair is living in a barn on a ranch not too far from me. The owners were kind enough to let me and a birding friend wander around for a bit.

These two were a real treat to see.

The photo is really nice! Sometimes I see owls in my neighborhood. I found this video that talks about how owls wings function. May I share it with you?

Excellent image. Did you know that they would be there ahead of time?

No, but hoped they would be.

Wow! That’s a wonderful shot! How close were you? I’ve never been as close as you seem to be.

I was just across the barn just inside the door. I cropped the image a bit.
It was exciting to see the pair together.

Wow! Nice capture! The last time I thought I’d found something like that, in a forest preserve pavilion, they turned out to be plastic ones for scaring away other birds.

Thank you so much, Sue! I’ve been fooled so many times by branches and nubs so I know how you’re feeling about that.

LOVE!!! Like Dan, I’ve never seen an owl in the wild. I would be thrilled having an up-close opportunity like this. Great photo in that challenging light.

What a treat! I love how you captured this, one owl against the wood barn and the other against the light, both looking at you. Excellent!

Great lighting! Was this shot with our mutual friend, Anna?

Thank you, Gordon! No, Anna wasn’t with me when I shot these two. This was back in May.
Anna and I did see one of these two when she was here though. I’ll have to share my images of that owl too.

Now, that is one handsome pair, and their eyes just pop. You were one lucky lady to make their acquaintance. 🙂

Wonderful shot, the framing of the owl left in the open spot… Once I was walking in the woods in the Czech Republic and an Eagle Owl crossed the path, in total silence, a large dark shadow like a ghost. Owls are most interesting creatures. I’m looking forward to more pictures!

Great photos of the owls, Deborah! Especially when you have minimal light. I have seen owls only a few times in my life and like you say, “a real treat!”
