I’ve spent a bit more time whittling down my 2016 favorite images and I’ve got it down to 30 now.
Since there are so many still I thought I’d share those with you via a slideshow. This is my first slide show here on WordPress. I need to find and install a different slideshow plugin. I don’t really care for the slideshow controls and caption on my image. 😦 But, it was pretty idiot proof to use, and I am a pretty talented idiot when it comes to computers, programs, and software in general.
I hope you like the images. Feel free to let me know which are your favorites.
I really have to give a “SHOUT OUT!” to my family for giving me so much free time. I was able to put this together a lot faster because they were on vacation and playing with #1 Grandson a lot. That really freed me up to cook, clean, and sort through thousands of images.
Update: I’ve linked this post up with Jim Goldstein’s annual “Best of xxxx” Photography Blog post. To see all the incredible photographer’s and their favorite images of 2016

More to come…
Wonderful photos Deborah! Happy 2017!
Thank you so much Jim! Happy New Year to you and yours as well!
Haven’t done a slide show or video on WordPress yet. But you did a beautiful job!
Thank you so much Jesh! xx
This was way too hard. They are all fabulous. I was partial to the sunsets and long exposures of the water because they are my goals to learn or get better at this year. But capturing birds in flight, a sheet being fluffed, star trails, night shots (my nemesis)…. all amazing. Looking forward to see what you have to share in 2017!
Thank you so much Amy! I hope to get out and do more starry night sky imaging this.
Best of luck with your photographic endeavours this year!
I am not always able to choose a favorite from someone else’s collection. Your photographs are always pleasing to my eyes!
The nature ones are those which give me a sense of peace and wonder. Thank you for these gifts and looking forward to 2017, as it unfolds through your fine art of photography, Deb. 🙂
Thank you so much for that lovely compliment Robin! I hope it’s a good year photographically.
You’ve certainly had an excellent photographic year Deborah! I am looking forward to your posts this year. I especially love your ‘Sunset Mt. Diablo’ image!
Thank you so much Denise!
I like that one too.
I’m looking forward to your photographic year as well!
I was resolved to give you my favourites but I kept adding new ones until there were just too many. I’ll try again to name the top 5 – I know the very favourite yet, it’s the bedding. 🙂 The other four are: the chicks, the creek, the cranes and mine mine mine. Wishing you many happy photo moments to come.
Thank you so much! It’s really nice to know which images are well received by viewers and friends.
I wish you many more happy photo moments too! 🙂
Ah great pics! With hopes of many more to come!
-stay inspired
Thank you so much!
All of these are amazing! I’m partial to the ones of the birds, but your shots of the moon and night sky are stunning. By the way, have a happy New Year!
Thank you so much!! I hope you have a wonderful New Year as well!
It’s hard to choose your favourites isn’t it!!? They are all beautiful and I especially love Swanson Creek and I am so impressed with your star trails!!
Thank you so much Hannah! Where you are now you probably have a really dark sky. I would love to have that right out my front door! It’s something I’m looking for while house hunting.
we do but living on the west coast we are too often surrounded in cloud and mist!!
😦 I have that where I live too and it has kept me from getting quite a few Moon shots.
Great collection of photos!! I like them all!
Thank you so much!! Happy New Year to you and yours!
Because I have seen and thereby know you are an outstanding photographer day in and day out, I can only imagine how tough it is for you to ‘whittle’ down to these! 🙂 Each of these are stunningly beautiful, Deborah!!
Thank you so much Donna! You’re too kind!
Noooooo…..just telling the truth! 🙂 ❤
I am so glad you didn’t work the list down below 30, Deborah. I tried keeping track of my “favorite” but I gave up. I might be able to tag a favorite bird (the still hummingbird), a favorite moon (with the birds in front of it), a favorite place (one of the NYC shots) and on like that, but I might have a hard time composing a Top-5 from these.
Thanks you for sharing your talent with us. I know how hard it is to take, select, prepare and share photos, so I really appreciate seeing yours. You bring us sights I can’t get around here, and you help me remember my many visits to the Bay area. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2017.
Thank you so much Dan for your thoughtful comment!
I wish you and your family a wonderful 2017 as well!
My big pet peeve with the slideshow feature is that I can’t open the photos in full screen. If anyone knows a solution to that, I’d really appreciate knowing it!
Deborah, you have an amazing portfolio of really great photos. I remember most of them and I’m sure that each photo brings back a detailed memory for you. My favourite is still the cranes silhouetted against the full moon 🙂
Thank you so much Joanne! They do bring back memories.
OMG! Those cranes in front of the Moon! That was a lucky shot. I was firing my shutter like a mad woman as they came into the frame. I remember saying a little prayer that I didn’t run out of buffer before they passed through it!
It’s memories like that that make them my favorites. 🙂
P.S. I think the reason you can click on an image in the slideshow and see it big is a settings feature. I’ll have to check that.
I have tried clicking on images in a slideshow, but I’ve never been able to get them to enlarge.
I think it’s a setting. I may have to link each image to the blog post if there is one. I’ll look.
Wonderful shots – I think I’ll have to give the slideshow feature a try 🙂
Thank you so much Norm!
I liked that wouldn’t take up too much of the viewers time to see 30 images.
But there are other options with WP plugins I’ll have to figure out. I’m just not very savvy with this computer stuff.
That’s my evening’s viewing sorted. Watching this slideshow on endless repeat, probably deep into the new year…
Thanks Deborah but picking a favourite… The sunsets, the moons, the hitching hatchlings, the hawk! How on earth did you capture a hawk AND it’s prey? Tremendous stuff! 🙂
Thank you so much Phil! I’m so glad you liked the slideshow!
Spotting that Red-tail with it’s meal was pure luck and timing.
Here’s the link to the post I shared about it.

Wonderful slideshow, Deborah. All your photos capture my imagination and take me to beautiful places! Thank you :-). Of the non-nature ones, the radio city hall photo is my favourite – the colours, and lights and layout are super cool. It was fun to see photos I remembered… that special inward smile of remembered joy.
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! You said, “that special inward smile of remembered joy.” I love this sentence!!
Happy New Year! I wish you all the best in 2017
Thanks for appreciating my sentence. Glad I managed to express the feeling well. Best wishes to you too! 🙂
🙂
so many beautiful photos Deborah! I thoroughly enjoyed the slideshow and could never pick a favorite! GREAT work!
Thank you so much Jodi!
These are great, Deborah! Thanks for sharing them.
janet
Thank you so much Janet!
So nice, Deborah. A treat to see.
The kingfisher looks really cheeky, probably because he knows I never managed to spot a colleague of his. But just you wait!
LOL! That’s right you’ll spot that tricky colleague! Hopefully in the 2017! 🙂
I do hope so, I’ve almost given up hope. 😦
Don’t give up! It will happen!
