There have been two regular Butterflies visiting my blooming Lantana for several weeks.
I’m not sure what type of Butterfly they are, but I think they’re in the Fritillary family. Any help with
the ID would be greatly appreciated.
Here’s one enjoying a nice drink of Lantana juice.
Taken with a Nikon D700 and AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4 lens

Awesome click…
I’m thinking Gulf Fritillary. Great shot!
Thank you Melissa!
Love the photo. Can you rig up a black cloth background and see what it looks like?
Thank you Robert! I’m not sure putting a black cloth behind this plant would do much to help hide branches. It’s a pretty full plant with a whole lot of green everywhere. It’s great thought. I won’t have time today to try, but will keep it in my thoughts.
Beautiful Deborah; Very vibrant with great color
Thank you so much Harold!
We have had almost no butterflies this year. Thanks for sharing yours
Thanks Dan! I’m hoping to get more next year by planting more flowers they like. We’ll see. 🙂
