I hadn’t been up to Mission Peak hiking in over a month and thought I’d head up to visit the Pole, but the weather altered my plan. Driving over to Fremont I hit dense pockets of fog that followed me up the mountain as I hiked.
When I reached the turn to hike up the last 300ft to the Peak the fog was a thick blanket over the entire valley below me and it was climbing up the mountain at a quick pace. I didn’t think I would beat it to the top so I hiked over to the Hang Glider staging area to view the sunrise, and photograph the color while I still could.
Can you tell how windy it was? The grass in the foreground is a bit blurry due to the wind that picked up at around 1000ft.
I took a few photographs here then headed down.

Hike details:
Total miles: 5.44
Total elevation gain:1,615ft
Total time: 2h 48mins.
