Last month I started keeping a "hiking record" of all the hikes, mileage, and total feet I’ve climbed to gauge my progress, and to make sure I’m getting enough miles, and altitude in so I can successfully make the climb to Cloud’s Rest in Yosemite in August 2011.

Since I’ve been posting photos and stats for most of these hikes I thought I’d post my May totals too.
I’m astounded with the totals. I felt like I had climbed it all yesterday. I was very tired hiking up to Vista Point. I hope I can keep up the training.

After the stats is a little write up about this photo.

Sunset on Mission Peak. There on the right is Mission Peak. I was with 3 companions heading up the hill on the left here after shooting here. All of us training for upcoming hikes in Yosemite.
The plan was too shoot sunset and hopefully star trails, if the clouds clear from up here.

The golden hour was amazing here on this Friday night.

This was my 2nd hike up here this week taking the Horse Heaven trail. I was suffering a bit of leg/muscle fatigue so was a bit slower up, but I did hike farther so I suppose it balances out.
Hike stats- as best as I can estimate. I didn’t take a GPS with me
Round trip 6.4miles
Total elevation gain- 2300 ft.
Total time up 2:15mins.

Stepping out of my comfort zone and sharing some "street photography" that I shot last year.
I enjoy photo walks in cities and towns very much, and capturing people doing everyday things. I just don’t think I’m very good at it so I keep my photos on my hard drive.
A recent discussion in one of my groups prompted me to leave my comfort zone and put myself out here.
I am also trying B&W more.
It’s an adventure!

There was storm brewing so Dali and I headed to the coast for the evening. The clouds looked promising. The air smelled so good here. There is nothing like the sea air!
I was thrilled to see the wild radish wasn’t too far gone. I came home with pollen all over me from brushing against it. It’s spilling over onto the trails, and waist high in most places.
The clouds really helped to make the colors pop.

These are so cute. Downhill Dali and I went back this morning and in another tree Dali spotted a juvenile Great Horned Owl. It was such a treat to go to the country and find birds of such great color, and Owls in the wild!
