This was the second attempt at getting a photograph of the Moon set over San Francisco for Andy and I. When I left the house at 5AM to make the hour drive the Moon was clear and bright, and in San Jose, CA there was no fog. That wasn’t the case by the sea. There was a thin layer of fog over the city, and the longer I waited for the moon to set the thicker the fog got so, by the time the Moon set the city was nearly invisible.
This is a composite of two frames blended. The city is the very first photo I took and 3 minutes later I exposed for the moon and that’s what I’ve blended here.
Nikon D700| Nikkor 70-300mmVR @ 270mm| 2f11| ISO 160| Manual Mode| Tripod| Release Cable| The city was an 8 second exposure, and the Moon was a 0.6 second exposure

Round Top still has a bit of snow adorning her peaks. This was a photographic stop along the way to Hope Valley. There wasn’t much in the way of Fall color but the view here!…Gorgeous!

After the Photowalk I wandered around the Eastern Sierra looking for Fall color. It was easy to find in the higher elevations. Like this little stand of Aspens backlit by the mid-morning sun.
There is big storm coming through CA now which brought with it snow, wind, and rain to the Sierras. I expect there will be damage to the Aspen leaves when it’s done.

A black and white version of the morning’s Alpine glow. Taken while I was participating in the 4th annual Scott Kelby WorldWide Photowalk.

This is one of the photographs I took while in the Eastern Sierras with the WorldWide Photowalk.
There were about 15 of us who walked down to this lake. We arrived well before sunrise to get down to the lake to pick out a good spot. There was one tricky place crossing the lake on boulders and stones. A few stones were loose. I missed my trekking poles which I left behind this trip. Fortunately, I didn’t fall in.
It’s absolutely gorgeous here. We were really blessed on this morning with great light, and alpine glow.
As you see there are fall colors too! Conditions- Cold, and a bit windy.
