Whatever Weds. SNOW!

February 18th we had a good storm blow through bringing lots of snow to the area. Down here in the valley we got a months worth in 24 hours.

We got about 6 inches but, up in the mountains they got 20-30 inches. I’m sure most of you were seeing all the car wrecks, and hearing about the major interstate closures out here. Thankfully two days after the storm it was nice enough to get out and run some errands, and make a couple of images.

From my Patio shortly after daybreak the clouds began to break up.

Then I stopped to catch this view of the Cottonwood a Red-tail likes to perch on. He wasn’t there but, the view was pretty all covered in white.

It’s been in the low 50’s the last couple of days and today will be 57 degrees F! The snow here in the valley is melting so fast, but it’s been super windy the last two days. I’m hoping it tapers off this afternoon.

I hope you back east fared well through the Nor’easter and all are having a good week!

more to come…

  2. Your photos are beautiful Deborah! We have been having such weird Spring weather. We got more snow during this last week than we did in February I think. The mountains really need it but I’m glad it has melted here.

  3. The mountains are impressive, but I most enjoyed seeing that gentle blanket of snow closer to home. It created what look like miniature mogols for small, imaginary skiers — or little creatures who like to have fun in the snow!

  4. The Nor’easter was a bit of a bust in my neck..but temps have wildly been fluctuating as of late..40’s & 50’s going fwd than 29 on Monday with potentially more snow..to be washed away by rain and temps pushing 60

  5. What beautiful cool images Deborah, so refreshing to us here in the humid heat, though today we had a sudden winter blast. Just don’t know what to expect these days. Love the snowy mountains, as we never see snow here.

    1. Thank you so much, Belinda! I guess it’s our turn for the hard winter across the country and you guys up there get a bit of a break. Enjoy it while you can! I thought we were going to have a mild winter all season. Mother Nature said, ” Nope!!” 😀 Or Winter going out like a lion and spring coming in like a lamb.

  6. Wow Deborah, you have a fantastic view from your home!! Beautiful. I saw that system on the weather channel hitting northern Nevada. We have 75 degrees here today which is great, and the lower 80s coming soon, I hope it stays until spring.

  7. Mostly what we saw in the television news about snow in your area was stories about the people that an avalanche killed in the Castle Peak area of the Tahoe National Forest in California. Fortunately snow in the Carson Valley was pretty and enjoyable rather than deadly.
