I’ve been seeing fall colors here and there while hiking and birding the last couple of weeks. Here are three of my favorite views so far this fall.

Mountain Splash

A Spot of Color above Lake Tahoe

A Bright Beginning
The little tree in the last image was the only tree in full Fall Color. All the huge Cottonwoods only had their tippy tops yellow and the rest of their leaves were green still.
Last Friday after a 5.5 mile birding hike myself and several friends went to an early lunch at the Squeeze In. I had a great salad loaded with bacon, chicken, blue cheese, red peppers, romaine lettuce, and a little balsamic vinaigrette the salad is called The Bleu Moon. I ate the whole thing.

Speaking of food reminded me of drink. Here’s the mug I’ve been using for my tea all this month.

Unlike Rascal Todd’s Boss Bernie I do wash my mug out daily.
I watched No Country for Old Men from the beginning and I didn’t like the ending at. all. I guess after all these years there will be no sequel to give me the happy ending I was hoping for.
I’m reading Dan Antion’s book Bridge to Nowhere, A Rascal Todd Mystery. I already have the next book in the series ready to read when I finish Bridge to Nowhere. It’s a good series!
Our lows have been in the mid 30’s here so we’re getting ready for winter, and my gloves and heavy coat have already been called into service. We’ve had some rain too. Can you believe it’s already October 15th!? Time isn’t flying by, it’s racing by!
I’ve got some errands to do in town this morning so I may be a little late getting to your posts, and responding to your comments.
Happy Hump Day!
more to come…

Your statement in this October 15th post that the cottonwoods had “only had their tippy tops yellow and the rest of their leaves were green still” accords with what we saw on our walk the next day. I hope the yellow has progressed a lot by now.

Hi Deborah, I love your Fall pics! The one above Lake Tahoe is spectacular. I like your Halloween mug too. And thanks for the book recommendation- I’m always on the lookout for a good mystery. Cheers!

Beautiful images, Deborah. I like that happy little mug. Sorry I haven’t been by much but as I get older I find myself slowing for the sake of sanity. Between caring for hubs, garden work, meals, projects, etc. my reading suffers. I am nearly done with book three in my series and have been painting a lot more. I did a really cool watercolor project with leaves and flowers. Hope you enjoy this colorful season. Stay safe and keep snapping!

Thank you, Cheryl! It’s good to hear from you. I had asked Dan how you were shortly after you went off the radar. He said you were busy with the book and life so had to pare back on some things and the blogging world was one. I’m am so glad to hear you’re busy doing creative things. I wish you all the best and much success with the latest book. You stay safe as well, and keep being creative! 🙂

You always have good photos, but the last one is a gem. Standing alone with the dead branch in front – perfect. That salad looks delicious. Your weather sounds similar to ours. I wore gloves one day this week for the first time. Definitely heading towards winter. Enjoy your birding.

Love your beautiful fall colours Deborah, we do not see much of that with our evergreen gum trees. Quite an interesting breakfast with much assortment of flavours.

I love the pop of color in the first and third photos, Deborah. It’s cool when the early trees stand out from the background. We aren’t having a lot of color this year (possibly because of drought conditions the past two months) but every now and then one shines.
That salad looks so good.
Thanks for the shout-out! I’m glad you’re enjoying the book. I appreciate your support so much!

Thank you so much, Dan! You’re welcome! I’ve enjoyed all your books so far and am so happy I don’t have to say good-by to Rascal and Bernie just yet.

Autumn, yep, also over here. I saw two totally complete and intact Fly Agarics today, just a bit aside te pavement. In Dutch they are known from the childrens song about Gnome Skinny Legs who used to rock to and fro on such a toad stool. (Until de thing broke and Gnome Skinny Legs went flying. 🙂 ) I like the splashes of yellow and orange in your pictures. Somehow the nutricious salad and your mug match the fall-feeling. The weather over here is quite nice, not to cold yet, a bit of sun, some light rain now and then. Not to bad at all.. Rocking time for gnomes! 🙂

I had to look up Fly Agarics. I hadn’t heard them called by that name before. They are my favorite mushroom as a subject, but I don’t see them here in the west. I saw one for the first time ever this past Spring while I was in Ohio birding.
That sounds like a fun children’s song! Be like those skinny legged Gnomes and enjoy your fine weather my friend! 😊

I laughed at the inscription inside your mug — very nice. Each of your photos has something to appreciate: colors in transition in the first, the framing in the second, and that glowing yellow in the third. I’m still astonished by your temperatures. “They” say that we might finally have a front in the distant future: one that will drop our highs into the 60s!

That made me smile when I saw the caption inside the cup so had to buy it. The funny thing is I have mugs for all seasons but, this is my first Halloween mug! I have two Fall ones I’ll be using starting in November.
Oh, you should see the mountains this morning! There’s a nice coat of snow on them from the storm we’ve had the last 4 days. They’re gorgeous. It’s suppose to be 32 degrees F tomorrow morning. Brrrrr!
You might be getting the storm that passed through here?
