Was this a self guided excursion or a guided tour at a port of call? AK is so vast and different during the summer. My first time there to the Arctic Circle in a summer was hot, rocky and dusty and very different from the winter but I guess like in many cold places like Iceland in the summer vs winter.

It was a guided tour up to the Yukon. Thankfully, our days on land were lovely weather wise, but we had several days at sea it was stormy.

The scenery is quite different (and quite beautiful), but when I first glanced at the photo, the curve of the railroad tracks reminded me of a photo I took along the Mississippi River, from the Illinois hills. There’s something about train tracks that always appeal to me, no matter the surrounding landscape.
