The two expression this Chipmunk made while I was taking its photo had me chuckling.
I got it!

Uh, what nut?!

Nice composition and background and the expressions on the chipmunk.

Very nice photos. You seem to have captured some personality, anthropomorphically speaking. Like the sentiment of most gardeners I can’t see their cuteness making up for the lost time, effort, and money spent on my garden. The hawks and owls come around about every two or three years and thin out the rabbit and squirrel populations, but the chipmunks seem to elude them.

Thank you so much, David! I wish I could find a way to keep the squirrels out of my flower pots. I’d love to have flowers all spring and summer but, I’m not spending anymore money on them until there’s a way to keep them out of my pots.

If they are actually standing/sitting in the pots you might try plastic forks shoved all the way in so that just the tines are sticking out.

Wonderful captures, and they are very cute … but can be a pest too. We have both chipmunks and ground squirrels, that look like big chipmunks, here. They took over my perennial garden years ago. I saw a big one followed by nine babies come out of a hole in the garden last year. Because we have so many rocks and boulders it’s a perfect habitat for them. At the end of our driveway there is a whole community and network of tunnels and colonies … I call it the squirrel underground.

I feel you! I haven’t been able to plant any flowers in my pots because the squirrels eat them as soon as I plant them! I’ve lost so much money in plants and flowers. I’ve stopped trying and now put artificial vines and shrubs in them for the summer months.
One of the squirrels had 5 babies this past season. I imagine the family is growing and we’ll be overrun with them before we know it! We need more hawks out back! 😊

Bobcats, coyotes and foxes like them too.

That’s true! I forgot about those. We have lots of coyotes here.

Great photos. Not exactly a fan of chipmunks, they’re destructive, but they are darned cute.

Thank you, Ally! They are cute. I’m glad I only have squirrels to contend with down here in the valley. I’m sure I wouldn’t think them so cute if they devoured all my flowers like the squirrels do.

Adorable overload! I love chipmunks, wish we had them around me. 🙂

Thank you, Donna! With all your woods and trees I would have thought you would have them there. It’s surprising you don’t! I’m glad I could give a little Chipmunk fix then. 😊

Maryland has the Eastern Chipmunk, but it is only found west of the Chesapeake Bay in the higher elevations of the mountains. 😊 In South Carolina, we had them on our property all the time.

Fun pics! We certainly have our share of those cuties.

We don’t have them down here in the valley, but there are plenty up in the Sierras where I was birding that day.

How cute is this little guy Deborah ! We do not have such cuties down here but I did get excited when I saw them in London. I love their expressions of anticipation.

I think these critters are real cute but I have a feeling they are not welcome by all.
Beautiful images.

They are cute, but they may be like their cousins the squirrels and a bit destructive to wiring and stuff.

Beautiful photos and perfect captions! They are so good at begging for more.
I think ours have begun the hibernation period. I picture one of them in a recliner, with his feet up and a gigantic pile of safflower seeds at his side. He hoovered them up all summer long.

LOL!! I can imagine Chippy under the log pile cover living large with that seed pile and a recliner. 😊 I think our ground squirrels might be in hibernation mode because I haven’t seen any for a week, well since we dropped down to the 20’s at night.

I think they’re tucked in for the winter, but we’ll keep an eye out for the critters and birds that hang around all winter.

Sweet images. The chipmunk/human similarity is clear. The little chipmunk reminds me of myself trying to hide a purloined cookie when I was a kid.

LOL! Me too! He’s got that nut close to its chest thinking I can’t see it.
