From my yard. Its Latin name is Gaura lindheimeri.
“It’s a perennial flower that produces airy, wand-like stems adorned with delicate, white star-shaped flowers that resemble the wings of a butterfly”.
White Cabbage butterflies and bees love it. I love it because it’s really hardy. I don’t do anything to it but trim it heavily in the fall.

Very pretty! I like the soft and airy colors and feeling.

Lovely plant. It struggles a bit here in the UK so probably not a good choice for my garden, which is a shame. I’m sure google will suggest something similar that can cope with cooler temps 😀

It’s interesting these flowers are so hardy when their petals look like delicate, fluffy pillows.

Beautiful! A flower that is gorgeous, hardy, attracts bees, and requires zero care – that’s as good as it gets!

Pretty pastel. From the post’s title in the e-mail notification, I expected to see a butterfly. Lindheimer’s gaura grows wild in central Texas, which is where Lindheimer lived. Botanists have moved the genus Gaura into Oenothera, so this flower is now Oenothera lindheimeri.

Thank you for that update on its name, Steve!
Its common name is a trickster today.

Apparently that common name is really common, because when I read your title in the email, I assumed it was the plant and not a butterfly. It is a lovely flower, and durable as can be. I love seeing it growing wild.
