I was shooting into the sun so the sky is blown, but the hawk isn’t. 😀

You did an excellent job of freezing the action and exposing correctly for the color patterns on the underside of the hawk

Thank you so much, Robert! I don’t get many in flight images so it’s really great when they come out sharp. 😀

How wonderful to have this RTH stretched out so beautifully in the sky, what a great photo, Deborah. Also really liked the river photo with the expansive splendor and big sky.

The key thing is getting the hawk exposed well. The background here isn’t that important.

Beautiful captures Deborah, raptors have beautiful patterns in their plumage and you captured this also. The field shot looks like the classic habitat of such a bird also.

Thank you so much, Ashley! It’s a great place to see hawks. I also saw a Harrier but, my images aren’t good it was on the other side of the river and too far. It knew I had a camera! 😂

It’s a nice out and back when you want a flat couple of miles to stretch the legs and look for birds too. 😀

Thank you so much, Dan! I was shooting blind and didn’t think I’d get any decent images at all, but I did get a couple of good frames.

That was an awe inspiring photo! Reminds one of Thoreau’s “The hawk is aerial brother of the wave which he sails over and surveys, those his perfect air-inflated wings answering to the elemental unfledged pinions of the sea.”

Lovely. We have a nesting pair in our neighborhood. I love watching them catch the air currents.

Thank you so much, Janis! I would love watching your pair too! We have a pair that has come to brood for the last few Springs in a tree on the golf course where I live. I hope they come back this Spring. I’ve missed the chicks fledging but, one day I hope to see and photograph that. 😀
