At Deborah’s Table

This is an old post, but I have nothing new and wanted to wish all of you in the States a Happy Thanksgiving!

We’ll be having pretty much the same menu this year, but The Handsome Surveyor is also making a ham.

The Main entrée:An 11 pound Butterball. It was great. Moist and juicy. I have lots left over which will be great as sandwiches.

I may make soup on Sat.

The Feast:

It’s pretty traditional. Mashed potatoes, Broccoli Rice casserole, Bread Stuffing; cranberry sauce; rolls, gravy, white wine-a chardonnay, and not shown the dessert: pumpkin pie and a cherry pie for Baby Girl.

Diva Dog got a bit of turkey and Broccoli Rice casserole in her dish tonight too.

My plate:

I’m so full! I’ll be dieting for the next week. My bread dressing came out really well, and I did have a sliver of both pies. 🙂

Now for the clean up and a walk around the neighborhood to burn some calories.

I hope all my family and friends in the States had a wonderful Holiday there is much to be thankful for!

    I too like every one else eat way too much, but it sure was good, 😊!

  5. I’m sure the walk burned off all the extra calories, Deborah. 🙂 (Don’t we wish!!) Happy you had a good meal and even better company. We never do turkey because no one in our family really cares about it, but we ordered a half ham from a wonderful place called “The Pork Shop” (http://theporkshopaz.com/) and it was amazing!! I’m pretty sure it will be on the Christmas menu as well. 🙂

    1. I only walked down the hill to help feed the sheep! I need to walk to the mailbox today at least, but not for a bit it’s pretty cold out this morning.
      Now, I’m wondering how your ham compares to the ham Baby Girl’s father-in-law bought and made for Thanksgiving to go with the Turkey? I don’t care for it too much, but I did have to little bites it was sweet and juicy, not salty at all! It wasn’t a honey one just ham. I could like that kind of ham!

      1. This wasn’t a grocery store ham, that’s for sure. I imagine they were both excellent. Split pea soup will be on the menu either tonight or tomorrow night. Might be my favorite part of a bone-in ham. 🙂

        1. His wasn’t from the grocery store either, he was telling us where he gets his hams each year, but since it’s over there I didn’t really pay much attention. Some local butcher shop. Sadly our local butcher, ranchers meats store closed during the pandemic lockdowns and it’s not reopening ever.

          Ooh, now you’re making me regret not bringing home any ham leftovers as I love split pea soup!!

    1. Thank you so much, Jennie! It was delicious and a wonderful Holiday. We got to see the Grandkids, and we read so many books out loud! Their favorite this year was The Pilgrims First Thanksgiving. They loved seeing the tall ship Mayflower as they’re into all things nautical. That lead to painting tall ships, and self portraits as Admirals. It was wonderful!! 🥰

      I hope your Thanksgiving was just as wonderful or better! 😍

      1. I’m glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got to be with the Grandkids. I love that book! Isn’t it wonderful when you get to introduce stories like this with books?
