Hello! It feels like I’ve been MIA for awhile. We were in the Chicago Region for my Son’s wedding and extended our stay a few days to do a little sightseeing and birding.

They had both a professional wedding photographer and videographer for the day. Here’s one image of Big Baby Boy and the Dark Haired Beauty just after the wedding. May I present the Newlyweds!

#1 Grandson was the Ringbearer and what a handsome and stylish lad he was.

The whole wedding party were handsome and beautiful, and we’re so happy to been able to travel to be a part of their Big Day.

The following day I spent the morning birding around the Orland Park area. It’s a lovely area with lots of ponds, wetlands, and green!

I have to give a huge shout out and thank you to Pat from the Thorn Creek Audubon Society I reached out to them before the trip and he was very generous telling me about a few places to go to do some birding. I picked up a couple of bird lifers, and a dragonfly which I’ll share first. While waiting for one of the reserves to open He-Man and I stopped by a little fishing pond where I spied this beauty.

I think this is an Erythemis simplicicollis- Eastern Pondhawk. Don’t you love that color green and it’s common name? I do!

The evening we got home I started feeling pretty achy and stuffed up, and the next day I tested positive for Covid and the following day He-Man did too. Sigh. Today I am finally feeling like I’m getting over it. I’m still weak and tire easily but I woke up feeling more like myself than I have in a week!

  2. Amazing Post here. Sounds like you guys had a blast at the Wedding Ceremony, that’s good. I like style too so the line “What a handsome and stylish lad he was” is as if you are talking to me😊😀

  4. Hope the young couple have many happy years together! So sorry to hear you got the covid, but glad to hear that it did not spread through the wedding party. Also glad to hear that you are getting over the worst of it, 🤞 keeping my fingers crossed.

  6. What a beautiful captures from the wedding, love them, Deborah! I just love the shot of your grandson, so handsome!! Great pondhawk shot too! Sorry to hear about getting covid, but GLAD to hear you’re feeling so much better now!! Hubby and I just had a close exposure three days ago, we are ‘waiting’ to see if we’re next, today/tomorrow will tell us. So far we both still feel fine.

  8. The wedding couple look so happy, and so does grandson the ring bearer. Isn’t that lovely animal a dragonfly? I hope you are on the mend. The only upside of getting Covid is developing natural immunities. Best to you, Deborah.

  12. So glad you survived the travel experience to get to this special family wedding. Handsome couple, and what can one say about your grandson but smile from ear to ear. When my grandson was that age, he loved hats. As to Covid, well, I’ve lost count of people I know who attended a special life event and came down with Covid. I’m glad you’re feeling better each day. Now, if we only had some idea of where this was all going so we could plan accordingly. 🙂

  14. Love the dragonfly! So many people, as they start to venture out, are getting Covid despite being vaxxed and boosted, and many who have already had it. I don’t blame you at all for wanting to attend your son’s wedding, I would have made the same choice. I hope you both feel better soon!

    1. Isn’t his hat awesome. We found that one for him to replace his favorite well worn Fedora. He refused to wear it to break it in until the day of the wedding. Now he says he’ll wear it all the time.

  23. I’m sorry to hear that you got Covid. They are a lovely couple. Your photos are beautiful, but I can’t get over #1 Grandson. Is this the same little boy that was playing with toy trucks (it seems like) last year?
