I rarely photograph daytime Moons, but this one was almost true south and outside my window so had to go out and photograph it.
November 30, 2025. A Waxing Gibbous (74.8%) Moon.

more to come…

I recently had someone say that they didn’t realize we could see the moon in the daylight! I found that quite surprising! 🙂 I like the moon in all its phases and whenever I can see it. Great shot!

I had a good friend say the same thing to me when she saw my image. It surprised me too! How someone could live to be in their mid 50’s and not realize there are daytime moons really surprised me. It was fun being part of her Moon realization though. 😊

Nice shot! I see there some high solar activity again that might result in aurora activity again. My location forecasts clouds but you should check reports as might get lucky.

I’ve got an app that lets me know in addition to checking, Thank you for your heads up! Do you have an Aurora app? Do you have a place in mind to photograph the Aurora should we get lucky again with it coming this low?
I’m hoping when 3I/Atlas gets closer we have a clear a night. My app shows the KP index for me great today during the daylight hours but, only 17% chance of seeing in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow and the KP index is 4.00. We’ll have some cloud cover then.

I especially enjoyed the presence of the wispy clouds around the moon. It gave some depth and texture to the photo, and made it more interesting than many moon-in-daytime-sky photos.

Thank you so much, Linda! I have a few flat blue skies and Moon daytime images myself so, I know what you mean. 😊 I prefer waxing and waning Moons when we see the crusty bits more.
I’ll be catching up with your posts soon! I’ve a got few in my TBR stack.

It is lovely how different the moon is at various times of the day and night with various other affecting influences such as smoke, clouds, water. I noticed it reaching its fullness again last night and gloried in the wonder of our Creator and how he has formed us to be his luminaries to reflect the light of his Son, just as the moon does the sun.

Although no English word rhymes exactly with gibbous,
A portrait of the moon in that phase you did give us.

Oh Deborah – amazing. A gibbous moon in daylight reminds us that wonder does not wait for darkness. Even in the bright hours, the sky keeps a quiet secret for those who pause to look up.
