We’ve been having thunderstorms with lightening almost every day lately so I wasn’t sure I’d be able to see or photograph this month’s full Moon. The day before the full Moon we had storm clouds rolling in all afternoon, but then it cleared up about an hour before Moonrise so, I thought I’d photograph it in case the following night was too overcast to photograph it.
While waiting for the moon to rise enough to get past the mountains I saw a couple of people in Motorized-gliders flying around the mountain where the moon would rise. I hoped they were going to stay long enough for the moon to rise, and fingers crossed one or both would do a moon fly-by. One did!!

It looks like a big bug doesn’t it? The sun was still up so the moon is really faded/washed out.
The following night there were enough breaks in the clouds that I was able to photograph the Full Moon. This is a two frame composite image.
One frame exposed for the sky and foreground and the other exposed for the Moon. I blended the frames in Photoshop.

June’s full moon gets one of its names from the wild strawberries that begin to ripen during the early summer and be gathered by Native American tribes.
Other names for June’s Full Moon are:
Rose Moon, Hot Moon, and Mead Moon.
Yesterday the wind really picked up tossing two patio chairs across the patio, one cushion was blow across the entire patio, and a planter tipped over. The Zephyr wind wins again!😂 We also had some thunder and a little lightening, but both were several miles away.
Saturday #1 Grandson is coming to visit for a week or two for summer. We have plans to hit the grocery store and library straight-away. We hope the weather improves so we can go to the lake and take him paddling.
That’s all from here. I hope you’re having a good week!

Two beauties, here. The first reminds me of the movie ET. Thank you for sharing the splendor. Enjoy your visit with your grandson. 🙂

Both are awesome shots! How serendipitous the gliders came by at that moment. I like to photograph the moon the day before it’s full … it looks full and there’s more light on the landscape. I’ve been collecting some moon shots for a post but need a few more.

I often shoot the moon the day before the full moon b/c the light is better most of the time and my favorite time is blue hour.
I’m looking forward to your Moon series!
Thank you so much for coming to check out my posts! 😍

And, of course, enjoy enjoy ENJOY your time with Grandson #1!! What age? Our #1 & #2 are coming to see us in a week also (12 & 7), not sure when they are leaving just yet, they said only when they have to go home. What’s that mean, oh no!!! 😂 I will be wore out for sure! 🤣 But oh those memories to treasure ❤️ I know you’ll be making them too! Spoiling grandkids is quite fun, I must say. 😊

Thank you so much, Donna! #1 Grandson is 10, and Littlest who doesn’t get to come yet is 4. Mom thinks he’s too little yet and as he’s her last she’s hanging on for as long as she can. 😍
I think two weeks is his timeline, but we’ll see.
Have a wonderful visit with your Grandsons too! Being a Grandparent is the best of parenting!

Very nice! I need to learn how to do this. My biggest disappoint so often when photographing the moon is losing the lovely illumination of the landscape in order to get the fine detail of the moon itself. I’m sure there is a way in Photoscape as well. Lovely images, Deborah.

Thank you so much, Cheryl! I am looking forward to the day when our cameras can see like we can. It’s close, but for scenes like that you still need to bracket and blend in Photoshop or other editing software.

Beautiful captures Deborah. The moon is always lends itself to a silent, soft sleepy mood. Especially in the last shot.

I thought of E.T. immediately. Are you sure that wasn’t a bicycle? I smiled at yet another reminder of the role of latitude in our experiences. I found my first wild strawberries this year in February, and the cultivated ones already were being harvested. Now I wonder what our native tribes called the June moon.

Several people thought of E.T. and I didn’t! 🙃
The Strawberry Moon is one name they call it. I’m so happy that strawberries are once again in season! I love them.

I’m with Judy. The first thing I thought of was E.T. – it’s a great photo. I know that feeling of waiting and hoping two things will come together. You want to yell at the moon to hurry or the glider to turn around.
I love the combination photo of the full moon-that’s impressive work.

It’s so cool when things line up the way you hope they do. That glider coming back in front of the Moon was awesome.
I didn’t think of E.T. until Judy mentioned it!! I see it though. Thank you so much, Dan. I’m glad you liked the images.

It does look like a big bug! Or some slender witch. The double exposure moon picture turned out very well. And the names of the moons are wonderful, although I couldn’t help thinking about Tom Waits’ song: Grapefruit moon. 🙂 I wish you lot’s of fun with grandson’s visit Deborah!

Thank you so much, Gordon! It was doubtful I’d even see the Moon. We’ve had Thunderstorms almost daily for a couple of weeks, and every day this week they’re on the forecast.

Love these photos – A++. The first one with the glider reminded me of that movie, ET. 🙂 I hope you, hubby, and grandson have the best time ever, and that the weather improves so you can do everything on his wish list.

Oh, I didn’t even think of E.T.! You’re right though it does remind me of that a little now that you mentioned it!
I hope we can too. Thank you so much, Judy! Unfortunately, his cousins and friends here don’t get out for summer until the middle of the month. We hope he doesn’t get bored! 😍

My first glimpse of the motorized glider against the moon in the top picture made me think of a dragonfly. I like the glow around the moon in the second picture.

Thank you so much, Steve. I thought it looked like a dragonfly or some other alien big bug as well.
The Moonglow was lovely that night. Some cultures believe the Full Moon and its glow have cleansing powers. To refresh the old, and cleanse ones spiritual self as well.
