I’ve been absent from the blog and reading blogs for more than a week because I was in Florida visiting my Mom and Step-Father, and touring around the state. I haven’t even downloaded the images I made while on the trip yet.
We visited Epcot which was a first for me, then St. Augustine, and Tarpon Springs’ Sponge Docks; the Sponge Capitol of the US, which is also it’s Greek community. It was a good, but very hot trip. It was the hottest September on record. I hope there are a few good images to share.
Today I’m sharing an image I made of what I think is a Cabbage White Butterfly while walking around UC Davis Arboretum in July of this year.

Wow, that’s awesome Deborah – did you go on your own or together with your hubby? Great you could visit with your family – Florida is another world – and the weather there trips me up!
He-Man and I went together. It was hot and humid! Thankfully there was plenty of a/c around.
I’m happy you were able to spend time with your Mom and Stepdad, too. We are blessed to be able to still have special parents in our lives.
I don’t mind Florida as long as I am out and about seeing lovely places! I think I saw some amazing photos of Epcot recently on my Instagram “feed” but didn’t re-post them. . .
I’m looking forward to seeing yours.

I mostly get to Florida (to see family) in the summer because that’s the only time everyone’s schedules line up. I haven’t been to Florida in winter, spring, or fall since 2007! Always summer and always hot as Hades! Ugh! I must say, several times it lined up with our anniversary and we were able to do a few nights alone, thanks, Mom! 😉 But yeah, so hot. Glad you had a great trip 🙂
Cool, you went to Disney too. Epcot was one of my favorites when I went there. I can’t wait to bring the kids at some point soon. Sounds like a wonderful trip all around. I will let you know about the cookies. 😀 Have a happy weekend!

I’m sorry that it was so hot for you. I’ve been to Epcot in the summer and that heat on concrete can be brutal. Come to think of it, my trip to St. Augustine was in the summer as well. Lots of interesting things there though! I haven’t been to Tarpon Springs. I’m looking forward to reading all about your adventures!
Thanks so much Amy! We kept darting into air conditioned shops, and rides while in Epcot, and the same in St. Augustine. I’d love to spend more time at each venue. I hope a few images came out well.

Nice shot – I love how you blurred both the foreground and the background. When I read about the woes of humidity and snow, I sure am glad I live in Southern California. Looking forward to seeing the pictures from your trip.

In the UK we call them Small White (Pieris rapae) Nice shot with such a big lens!
Thanks so much Brian! No way I getting close to this one. It was down on the bank of the creek munching away, and no path through the brambles to get any closer. It was a heavy load that day, but I’m glad I had the big lens.

Cabbage white! I would never have thought that butterfly has the same name in English as in Dutch. We call it: koolwitje, wich means, well, (little) cabbage white. I somehow find this extraordinairy. The picture is outstanding by the way.

When September comes I don’t want hot anymore. I’m looking for more moderate temperatures. It sounds like you got another dose of summer, but I hope you got in a great visit with mom 🙂
I did get a visit with Mom, but we all could have done without the heat and humidity.
Escape to the beach or shops with A/C was how we tried to beat it.
Temps are cooling here at home now. I hope they are there too!
Yes, it’s a bit nippy here today … but it’s fall and that’s the way I like it. I’d be happy to have much more of this kind of weather 🙂
At first glance I though you’d captured a rarer white butterfly, but when I looked closer I think you’re right. Either way, it is a special photo. I love the close color and values in this image.

I loved all the shades of green too. It’s my favorite color.
I often think of doing a painting with variations on just one color….but I lack the discipline!

It was fun, but HOT and HUMID! The hot I can do, but the Humidity was icky.

I love the color green because it means it’s not white out there yet. 🙂
Green! I love it when our hills are green. I wouldn’t be ready for the cold of winter, but newly fresh snow is so gorgeous and makes everything magical looking.
Hopefully, you’ll be a snowbird again and miss the coldest and worst of the white stuff.
To this day, I love the first snow. It’s the next six or seven feet that get me down. 🙂

That little guy really blends in well, good capture. I hope the Florida trip was fun. Sorry about the heat – that can be miserable, but those are some nice areas.
Thank you Dan! It was fun, but the humidity was the worst of it. I am just not used to that plus the 90 degree days. We spent a lot of time indoors, and looking for air conditioned attractions, and shops. 🙂
